In Canadian Electrical Code it requires 600mm horizontal clearance between cable tray and wall (12-2200(6)), but in reality I've seen a lots installations that do not meet this requirement. Not sure what is the requirement in NEC, but I am wondering if anybody can explain if there are any other...
I am presently working on the evaluation and cost estimation of upgrading a 40+ years old gas plant. Want to have some idea what is the normal life span of transformers, switchgears, motors, cables, etc.

We have a 600V ungrounded delta system. Is power cable with 600V insulation rating enough for this appilcation? My thought is, under a phase-ground fault condition, the other two conductors will subject to overvoltage.....
Does anyone know of how to size the circuit breaker for VFD and soft starter circuit? The code does not mention anything about it. Normally VFD user manual will give the suggested circuit breaker size. But what about soft starter circuit?
