In the data sheets of some new pumps I noticed that the pump Suction Press. is equal to or a bit less than the pumped liquid Vapour Press. at the pumping temp.
Wouldn't that cause a cavitaion problem?

When selecting a new pump for a process plant how to decide if you need a single or a double mechanical seal?
Is this seal selection based on the pumping conditions (disch. press, vap. press, ..etc), or is there a definite rules for such selection?

We used to use Propanol as a barrier fluid for our Ethylene Transfer Pump which uses a double, back to back mechanical seal arrangement, and which pumps Ethylene at
