I am making a multi-sheet drawing for a large assembly. I am displaying only certain parts on each sheet. I tried creating a new BOM table on each sheet, and then displaying only the rows that are visible in the drawing view. The balloons on the first sheet display the correct item numbers...
I have a general table in a drawing, and one of the columns is populated by an equation in its cells. I want to show 3 decimal places in the value, which is important because it is a dimension of the part. I can set the decimal places to show when building the equation, but SW seems to chop...
I installed SolidWorks 2009 last week, and it added some toolbars and menus to autocad 2004 - one is called SolidWorks and the other is called XchangeWorks. I'm not really interested in using them, I'd rather remove them because they slow down Acad's launch and the open time for every drawing...

Usually at work the same engineer both models a part and then details it straight away. But sometimes there's a few days between, or the detailing is left to a different engineer or drafter. So i have been trying to use some dim Xpert dimensions in my parts to call attention to important...
is there a way to renumber the items in a cut list table? I have a table and i want to change the numbers for some items. I can drag rows up and down the table, but the item numbers follow with them.

I like how you can set dimensions in a sketch to equations, but how do you do it for the depth of a feature? Say i want to link the depth of an extrusion to one of the dimensions of the profile sketch. Solidworks only seems to accept a number in the "depth" text box.

Any time i try to add a feature from the design library, SW crashes on me. Other users in my company don't have this problem. Any thoughts? The toolbox works fine.

At my company, we recently switched our toolbox from a local setup to a networked setup. I opened an assembly that i had made before the switch, and now all of the hardware has reverted to a default size, and their confogurations are gone from the properties dialog box. SW is getting the files...
I know i've done this before, but now i am having issues when i try to add a revision column. First i add a column to my bom table. Then i double click the top of the column to bring up the list boxes and select CUSTOM PROPERTY in the top one. Then all the custom properties should be...
arrrrggg, so many complaints - these are just from this morning...
1. Stretching column and row sizes. Sometimes stretching affects every cell, sometimes just one- and never works the way i want it to. Is there a certain way you have to drag/select the cell borders?
2. Can't move BOMs from...

when creating linear smart dimensions, the mouse does not snap to any set distances from the part. Other computers in the same department do it fine (although i think...
the SW help file says you are limited to "closed" sketches, but doesn't define what closed means. Am i limited to rectangles? I'd like to use a curvy spline on one side of the sketch, but it doesn't work.
Alternatively, i'd like to break the view and then hide the end portion of the part...
Just came across something really bizarre. Using SW2008 SP3.0. I sometimes edit the hole callout text in drawings (not the value itself, just adding/removing text). Solidworks is not letting me edit the hole callouts at all. It pops up the standard warning message about breaking the link...

i've been working on a large assembly the past few days and i keep having to pan and rotate my view to the same couple of places over and over again. Isn't there a way to save a view for later, instead of consantly zoming around? I can't seem to find a way to do this.
just playing around in photoworks and i've run into a problem. I added aprropriate appearances to all the parts in my assembly and picked a "scene". Unfortunately when i render the scene, all my parts show up very dark (they should all be shiny aluminum and stainless). However, the toolbox...
i am recreating a driveshaft in SW8. The original drawing shows part of the shaft is 12mm dia with a g7 fit, and then it transitions to 12mm dia with a k6 fit. SW does not like dimensioning two lines end-to-end with the same value, even though the tolerance is different. Any idea how to...
At the '08 introduction presentations, one of the new features being promoted is the ability to search your files for parts and then copy over a useful feature or sketch to a new part. I've tried using this search box a few times (the one at the upper right of the screen) without success. I...
i want to insert a weld bead into an assembly of two parts. one is a cylinder, the other is a plate. they are mated with a tangent mate. I am having trouble selecting a bead type that will work. We thought to use a flange weld at first but it does not work. Anyone have a method that works?
