We were involved in an analysis of replacing "normal" efficiency motors by "high" efficiency motors. During the process one issue appeared. Below is a typical example.
One of the motors in question had following data:
(per NEC 2005 - Table 430.250 - typical motors)
Output power: 20 HP ( 14.92...
Per manufacturers' data, the output power for a UPS is limited by its apparent power output [kVA] and its real power output [kW].
EX. for a 100 kVA rated UPS, its real power output is listed as 80 kW. That would be equivalent to assume that the UPS can deliver a maximum of 60 kVar. Where does...
Some UPS manufacturers label UPS with both apparent power (kVA) and active power (kW).
Ex. 225 kVA, power factor 0.8. (182.4 kW)
Is this indicated power factor minimal or maximal ?
Can this UPS be loaded up at 225 kW ?
For facilities served by 2 or more emergency generators, these generators could be load-tested in pairs, one as "generator" and the other one of the pair as "motor".
This way the requirement of providing a load bank could be eliminated.
Is there any code stipulation that prohibits the use of...
