    Power Mosfets as resistors for a.c. current.

    I want to make use of power mosfets as voltage controlled resistors for a.c. currents without introducing distortion. Typical devices like irf540 have everything going for them except the zener between D & S because they are designed to switch. Are there devices suitable?
