Umbrella Roofs and API 650 Appendix F7

Can anyone tell me if Umbrella type roofs can be used when the design pressure requires anchorage and as a result the tank must apply Appendix F section 7? In API 650 we are told that F7 tanks must have their roofs and roof nozzles and manways designed as shown in API 620. There are no design...

Uplift from wind and Overturning - Anchorage

Gentlemen, A. How to apply 5.2.1.j.2? 1. Calculate value for F.4.1 2. Convert F.4.1 * 1.6 to moment 3. Calculate moment resulting from pressure Mpi 5.11.2 (could be zero) 4. Calculate moment from horizontal wind 5. Calculate moment from vertical wind - but not greater than (moment from...

Column Load Distribution in API 650 11th Edition

In paragrapn 5.10.4.7 a. of the new 11th edition, there is language for distribution of column loads. Does anyone know, is it intended that the product load plus the bottom plate load would be deducted from the soil bearing capacity resulting in the load available for the column load distribution?

    Platforms on Umbrella Roof Tanks

Does anyone know of a good reference source for formula to determine effect of installing eccentrically loacted roof top platforms on Umbrella or Dome roofs?

How do you apply platform loads to a self supporting cone/umbrella?

I have a 20' diameter tank that currently has a self-supporting cone roof with 3.65" in 12" pitch. I need to install a 12' x 15' platform above the roof and need to know how to apply the platform loads for designing the roof thickness. Platform will be 17.25 psf dead weight and API 650 says...

How do you calculate first moment of area of stiffener

Can anyone help? I need to calculate the first moment of area of a stiffener being attached to a 75' diameter tank. Stiffener will be 3" x 3" x 3/8" angle.

    Vacuum in Addenda 4

API 650 Addenda 4 now includes an appendix V for considering vacuum. Once I have determined the moment of inertia and the area required for end stiffening at the bottom, I need to compare to the moment and area of the shell and bottom contributing. No problem with the area but when looking at...
