    Engine Exhaust Plumes

    Is it true that the engine exhaust plumes diverge from 1 another on the port side and converge on the starboard side in the case of a 4 engined aircraft,? Does anyone have an explanation for this? Is this phenomenon dependant on factors such as temperature, pressure, etc.? Thanks.
