Is it true that the engine exhaust plumes diverge from 1 another on the port side and converge on the starboard side in the case of a 4 engined aircraft,?
Does anyone have an explanation for this? Is this phenomenon dependant on factors such as temperature, pressure, etc.?

I recently saw a documentary on the Bermuda Triangle and have been quite fascinated since.
I would like your views/explanations on this phenomenon. I am sure there are thousands of theories already, but I am interested in knowing individual opinions.
