Hi everyone,
I am working on a project that requires a stainless cylinder with an ID of 200mm to have a redicoulsly tight tolerance of +/-0.001mm, over an axial distance of 120mm (10mm wall thickness). That's not a typo on the decimal places - needless to say, this is challenging.
Does anyone...
Hi everyone,
I'm NOT an expert of any kind when it comes to this arena, which is showing the restults that I am getting.
I have a 2.5mm dia press tool pin that is pushing in a small, steel part with an interference fit in to aluminium. Unfortunately, the steel part needs to be pushed down...
Hi everyone,
I'm working a piston that will see about 50 bar, but will also see approx 1 bar vacuum. It has a stroke of only 25mm, a 18mm dia and a linear speed of only 2mm/sec. This change from pressure to vacuum will occur over a matter of just a few seconds.
I've been asked by the Chief...
I'm recently returned to Pro-E (Creo 3) after a break of a couple of years and I am having a problem getting the text on a dimension to behave. Instead of it sitting on the outside of the leader, the text goes back on itself. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
G'day,
I have just moved jobs and on my new PC (a brand new build), strange things are afoot. When I dimension anything in a sketch, the dimension is if the format like this...3.65e+002, rather than 365mm. My machine is the only one like this and I have no idea how to change it.
Can anyone...
As the title suggests, I need to represent a sectional view of an assembly, but with one of the components as wireframe/transparent. The component to be transparent is a "potting" in a connector and I need to show the cables running though so that route can be seen in section. In SW I can simply...
Is there a way of representing the circular lines on a drawing if there are only two holes? The command doesn't really come alive unless three holes are selected. I need to dimension them radially.

Is there a way of moving a part file from one location to another without the Assy falling over? I don't use PDM works, so it is all filing is done in Windows.
Paul.
I am in the middle of a disagreement over the issuing of part numbers to parts & drawings.
A collegue that has been working here for many years (I have only recently joined) claims that it is correct ISO practice to take a part and issue it with multiple part numbers and drawings because is it...
Is it possible to split a weldment part file in to two? I have inherited a rather large weldment that I think should be made in to two files.
Can this be done without major problems?
Paul.
In Solidworks, when working with a read-Only file, there is a command called "Get write access" which allows you to make the file read-write without closing and reopening.
Is there a function in SE V19 that does the same?
Paul.
In an assembly, why would the Move command be greyed out? I can't move anything. Also, in the assembly one step higer, the move command isn't greyed out, but when using the command I can't select anything.
I am quite new to SE, so I may just be a butthead [ponder].

Any idea how to change the precision on a callout? I'm new to SE and I can't get the Mass to show anything other than 0.0Kg in the title block, when it should be 0.013Kg. I'm sure there's a way, but I can't figure it out.
Paul.
I have a general question about assembly mates.
I have inserted a part into an assembly and it is floating around the screen, not fixed anywhere.
Is there a simple way of fixing the part to the assembly origin without using mates? ie, as if I had inserted the component using the Insert...
On an Assembly drawing, I am having problems selecting all of the components on the screen when I am trying to put balloons on them. They are showing in the BOM table, but when I click on the part, it clicks "through" it and selects the part behind it.
Why?
Paul.
What I open an assembly within Solidworks, all is well, but when I open the same assembly (well, any assembly really) from within Windows by double-clicking the file directly, Solidworks tries to open-up almost every SW file that I have on my hard drive.
Any idea why?
Paul.
Is there an easy way to add a "birds beak" on the bend of a sheet metal part? I am not sure what the usual expression is, but at Jaguar they call it a birds beak.
Basically, it is a small depression on the rad of a bed so that it stiffens up the bend.
Any suggestions?
Paul.
