Agitator Nozzle Flange Face Roughness Requirements

Hello, We are planning to install an agitator in the bottom head of the vessel. My question: are there any specific requirements to the roughness (AARH) of the face of the flange connected to the mounting flange of the agitator?

    Saddles "MDMT"?

Hello, Is it correct to use the acronim "MDMT" if talking about vessesl saddles? Fo rexample, if the vessel saddles to be exposed to -50 deg C, shall I mention MDMT or MMT (minimum metal temperature)= -50C? I was under the impression that "MDMT" applied only to pressure envelope. Thanks.

    ASME Code Case 2211

Hello, I can not find in our library any reference to ASME Code Case 2211 "Pressure Vessels with Overpressure Protection by System Design". Is this a separate document or it is a part of the Code? Thank you.

    Vessel vs. Column - Ratio?

Hi, I have a simple question - from which length / diameter (or diameter / length) ratio the vertical vessel is considered a tower (column)? I have a Pressure Vessel handbook, but there is no information about this particular question. Thanks!

    Hydrotest Pressure on Vessel Nameplate

Hi, In our project specification we've asked the Vendor to hydrotest vessel to 1.3 MAWP (new& cold). I've got a question from them - which hydrotest pressure shall be mentioned on the vessel nameplate, 1.3 x MAP new&cold or 1.3 MAWP (the pressure of the test done at the field)? Their concern...

Flare Stack Aircraft Warning Lights Requirements

Hi, I'm evaluating the flare stack bid proposal. The flare is 37 m high. One Vendor had included in the quote the aircraft warning lights, but the other one did not - he had mentioned that per ICAO recommendations, it is not needed for the flare of this height. The question: is ICAO the only...

    How many manways per vessel?

Hi, I can't find any info in the Code regarding correlation between vessel length and quantity of the manways required. Is there anything (except common sense) to justify how many manways shall be on the long vessel (9 m and up)? Thank you.

    NDE before / after PWHT?

Hi, I have a question regarding performing NDE on the vessel joints. The Code requirement is to do NDE (RT & UT) before PWHT. Out Client's spec requires it before and after PWHT. The Vendor (due to extremely, uncompromisingly tight schedule) offered to perform it as per Code, before PWHT...

Flex hose for pump (HP, corrosive service)

Alining the pump and pipe connections had been a continuous strauggle at the field, so we decided to use flexible connection for Cat / Reda M520 HPS ( as least for suction side). The problem is - service is corrosive (sea water, so SS probably can't handle it) and pressure is fairly high - up to...

    Tank Calibration

There are two currently approved methods of tank calibration - optical and laser. Is it true that laser method is faster and more accurate? Which one do you prefer?

    Valve for sand application

Hi, Which kind of valve would you suggest for sand application (not slurry, just crude oil / water mix with a small fraction of sand)? Our valves started to leak (even with sealant), so we try to replace it. We want to use a gate valve, but are concerned that the bottom seating area will simply...
