    304 SS Plate Weights

    If the density of 304 plate is 0.29lbs/in^3, why do supplier have differing densities listed for differnt thicknesses? I.E. one supplier has 1/4" plate weight listed as 11.16 lbs/ft^2, and 1" listed as 42.67 lbs/ft^2. Would not 1" be 4 times 1/4"? If .29lbs/in^3 wouldn't 1/4" be 10.44 lbs/ft^2?
