    ASTM A536 70-50-05

I have a question regarding the mechanical testing results for A536 70-50-05 material. I have a supplier who does both seperate and cast on samples however their acceptance criteria for cast on samples is significantly lower than what A536 specifies for 70-50-05. Where A536 calls for a tensile...

    Nozzle tie in welds

Per section VIII Div 1 the first circumfrential joint falls under section VIII's juristiction. Is there any documentation required from the installer that makes the tie in welds similar to the U-1? Would making these welds be considered field assembly and need to be documented on the applicable...

    Hardness Testing

When using a telebrineller it is recommended that the bar hardness be within 30 BHN of the expected material hardness. If there is a difference of 60 BHN between the bar and the test results would you expect the actual hardness of the material to be higher or lower than the test results?

    microstructure difference P9 vs P91

What differences in microstructure can be expected between P9 (9Cr-1Mo) and P91 (9Cr-1Mo-V). I am familiar with the P91 as we use it in the power industry however I have heard very little on the P9 material as we do not use it.

    Hydro-test Gauges

Does NFPA address the range of the test gauges? I have a contractor that wants to perform a 200 psi test using 200 psi gauges. ASME requires that the gauge be a minimum of 1.5 times the test pressure but I am not familiar with NFPA or its requirements.

    NFPA 20 Question

In the 2003 edition of NFPA 20 para. 5.12.1.1 it states that indoor fire pump units shall be physically seperated or protected by fire rated construction. Are the fire pumps to be seperated from each other or from the rest of the building? I do not typically deal with NFPA and have had this...
