I am looking for good news from your company related to engineering jobs being saved or created by the new health insurance plan. I think the rush is over of people lining up at doctors offices for their now "free" health care. Please post the "good" aspects that will help business and keep us...
I am wondering if there is any polymer better than PVC for the following:
1) Direct digital print adhesion
2) Good tear resistance
3) Weatherability and wash and dry cycles.
Current material is 80 durometer Shore A PVC.
I have a drawing with the tolerance block stating +/-1/64" VOSP I am not sure what the letters stand for. Is this part of a standard? Thanks in advance.
I was asked by a company what could be done for traceability(date of manufacture, lot number, etc.) in investment castings similar to date code wheels in plastic tooling. What is usually done and what would help in this area?
I have a problem in a sealed area with glycerin forming white chunks in a liquid filled gage. The are white and seem to sray around the clear gasket by the window. It feels like grainy crystals and it clings to the metal wall in two places. Looing for ideas of what could possibly cause it.
In the spirit of lean manufacturing and the future, how many engineers out there have had a product and enough financial know-how to get it going? The title of this topic is where is engineering going and I think this is a direction people should take when they can. Design a better product, make...
I have AUTOCAD LT 2000 and recently purchased a 64 bit machine. The salesman told me that Vista can be made to ask how to run the program when it is installed. Big news, Vista doesn't ask and the computer tells me that the program isn't compatible. Is it time to move on?
I have a new TPE development part that needs to feel like rubber (approx. 50-55 duro shore A), be injection moldable, not flash on a knockout pin and take either a digital transfer print or ink on a cut raised 2-D surface. It needs to go through wash cycles and take outside weather conditions...
Looking for ideas on molding colored letters etc. on top of a rubber part. The base is white and the letters need to be other colors. They are raised up off the surface. Material is rubberized PVC. Thanks in advance.
I'm looking for the most cost effective manner to engrave hardened 416 stainless 0.010" deep for two numbers ranging from 0.030" tall by 0.006" deep to 0.100" tall by 0.020" deep. Two numbers are at two precise locations engraved on a flat object. Same thing every time. Seven different...
Drilling a hole pattern in 2" thick 321 Stainless and tools aren't lasting. Carbide reamers getting chewed as well as drill bits. Any materials, speeds or feeds to recommend? High speed steel the only one going past one hole so far. Suggestions? Thanks.
I need to get some parts ground 0.350" long down to 0.009" dia. at the very tip. CNC type profile and Rc=60-62. Starts with a die pin at diameter and the o.d. profile is on the last 0.150" of length. Do I cut then harden? Getting no takers.
I have a molded part done in several elastomers that needs to be field traceable years from now. What permanent identification methods are out there I am not aware of? It needs to vary easily based on mold usage as well. Thanks.
The information on lubrication of stainless screws was very informative. I have a question as to turning components. Close tolerance with a gap of 0.0003". At temperatures up to 600 deg. F, would the same lubricating materials be useful? Or would a coating such as Titanium disulfide be a good...
Are there any actual legal policies determining what constitutes a sick day, vacation day, etc. for exempt employees? Is it right for a company to not compensate you for extensive travel and yet dock you for sick time even if it is a necessary doctors appointment? Just wondering what actual...
Short summary:
Material P-20
Finish requirement 16 RMS
Depth 1.5"
Inner diameter 1.0"
Angle of cut 3 degrees
Need to radius for the flat inner area.
Question:
Are there really better small boring bars out there to limit chatter?
I am looking for the most cost effective method of engraving small(,1.99" diameter) flat stainless steel parts. 0.010" deep mostly on pre-hardened 416. One to four at a time is fine. Seems to be hard to find. Thanks in advance.
What is the easiest way to machine a hex for a 3/16" allen wrench on the head of a stainless steel insert 0.600" long. Precision machining of the rest of the insert is involved so no hammer shots please.
