Is there an ASME standardized way of calling out plating thickness on specific surfaces? If ASME doesn't standardize this, does anyone else?

Since upgrading to v2008 I've noticed that the sheet of a drawing doesn't seem to fill up as much of the screen when as it did in previous versions of SW when I Zoom to Fit. In other words, there seems to be excessive "dead space" around the sheet. Is there a way to make SW zoom in a little...
I just got a SpaceExplorer and I was wondering if anyone out there has figured out an efficient/powerful way to use it in SolidWorks. Right now I just use the Esc and Ctrl keys and I use the "controller cap" to rotate and zoom. However, in order for it to replace my keyboard shortcuts I need...
I'm shopping for CAM software and would like to know if anyone has used CAMWorks or SolidCAM, which as far as I know are the only two CAM plugins available for SolidWorks. I've used SurfCAM SE in the past, but associativity with Solidworks files was buggy. Specifically, when I made any design...
Why do I get trailing zeros when I apply hole callouts? My other dimensions do not have trailing zeros. In document properties, I have dimension standard set to ANSI, leading and trailing zeros set to Standard.

Will someone please explain to me how to save and load "favorites" in Solidworks? When I add and try to save favorites, Solidworks does not give me the "save as" dialog box that the help files say I should get. When I open a new drawing and try to load favorites, it asks me to find a ".sldfvt"...
Would someone please send me a drawing made in solidworks that shows proper use of surface finishing symbols per the latest ISO standard? Under Document Properties>Detailing I have ISO selected and "Display symbols per 2002" selected for surface finish symbols. Is 2002 the latest standard or...
Anyone running SW via Boot Camp or Parallels? I notice someone posted this question mid last year. Currently only Mac Pro has a SW-certified graphics card (Quadro FX 4500) as an option, but I'd rather use the cleaner iMac or a Macbook Pro if I could get away with it. The thought of specifying...
Has anyone succeeded in making a broken-out section view within a detail view using sw2006sp5? I can make a broken-out section view in the view the detail view references, and it then appears in the detail view, but I want the broken-out section view to be in the detail view only. Thanks...
I'm thinking of buying a notebook with 64bit Windows pre-installed and running 64bit Solidworks 2007 on it. I'm worried this setup could put me in such a small minority of users that I might end up in driver hell and never be saved by updates. Anyone out there blazing the 64bit Solidworks...
Anyone found a better way to re-orient a part's coordinate system since October? I read thread559-136322 but the solutions are workarounds. I was wondering if there have been any relevant updates to Solidworks since then. Btw, the only reason I want to do this is to make importing parts into...
In a design table, I have a list of configurations that have numerical names and I want the numerical names to all have the same number of digits so that they appear in numerical order for when I need to manually select configurations in Solidworks. In other words, I want the numbers 1234.5...
We used to group all parts, sub-assemblies, and drawings of a given assembly into a folder, so a project folder contained a number of (somewhat) self-contained folders. Then we cut each of a project's drawings from their existing locations and pasted them into one folder, leaving the part and...
I want the vertical justification of the text in my Excel-based BOM to be centered, but it seems that Solidworks does not pull the justification from the BOM template. How should I accomplish this?

Is it possible to make a linear pattern of sketch points, where I can control the spacing and number of instances with a design table? I know how to do this with features, but not sketch points.

Is task scheduler supposed to open and close Solidworks for each task? That's what its doing for me. Also has anyone experienced any nightmares due to automated tasks? I'm wary of Solidworks brand automation.

In a sketch I have a line that must be tangent to one or another curve in a different sketch (the curves are tangent to each other and continuous), depending on configuration. Configurable sketch relations would be perfect for this application, but there is no such thing. I created a spline...
I am CAM-ignorant and shopping for CAM. I am leaning toward SurfCam mainly because it has a forum on eng-tips. I have no better information to base my decision on. Has anyone been exposed to multiple CAM packages and have a preference?

In SW2004 and earlier versions, when I hovered my pointer over a part's corner in one drawing view it would highlight the same corner in other drawing views. I don't see an option to turn this feature on in SW2005SP2. Did they get rid of this feature?

SW2005-SP1.1 crashes 2 to 3 times per day on my computer and on my coworker's computer. Every time it crashes it gives the "unhandled error" message. We have the exact same setup, which is:
Athlon 64 3400+
1.5 GB RAM
Quadro FX700 with the latest SW-certified driver
WinXP Pro with all updates...
