I am looking for specifications or standards on the following asset management items.
1. Equipment functional analysis, criticality analysis, FMECA's.
2. Spares criticality analysis and stock holding levels.

According to literature the following steel:
BS 970 817M40 Condition 'T'
should have a final microstructure consisting of tempered marensite.
We have had a fatigue failure on a solid shaft and testing revealed the following:
Chemical properties all within specification

Hi
Does anyone have any reference to what stress concentration factor (Kt) I can apply to a taper locking element fitted to a solid shaft? I need actual values not assumptions please if that is possible.
Thanks

I would like to know how to extract oils from organic material. I would like to set up a little system at home where I would be able to extract oils from leaves, flowers, etc...
I would appreciate some ideas on what process would be involved.
Thanks
Is there a web site where I can cross reference material specifications:
e.g.: If I enter werkstoff no. 1.7225 I can get a list of all the possible equivalents.

Dear all,
1. Can fracture toughness be determined from Charpy Impact Values? If so what is the formula recommmended.
2. Does anyone have fracture toughness values for the following shaft materials:
EN24 'T'
EN26 'T'
Thanks

We have a number of gearboxes installed in 1991, since then 10 shafts have failed by means of fatigue.
The failures happen at two positions. I have calculated the following stresses based on the material and shaft geometry:
Position 1: Stress = 67 MPa, Endurance Limit = 82 MPa @ 10^6 cycles...
I have to draw up a Risk Analysis for mechanical equipment, i.e. determining the risk of a failure and its impact on the machine, the system and possibly human lives.
Does anyone know of existing processes or have any references.
Thanks

1. We are wanting to replace a gearbox on an E44CP Pulveriser that was manufactured in 1972. To do this we need to know what thrust is exerted on the gearbox. If anyone has knowledge of these machines please help.
2. If anyone has a E44CP Pulveriser that they have scrapped or are wanting to...
I have a 2 stage gearbox and a vibration consulatnt has measured a 4x bevel set frequency (first or high speed stage of the gearbox)in the vertical direction only. All other frequencies 1x, 2x and 3x are all very low. The 4x has a a RMS velocity of 11.23 mm/s.
Any idea as to what this could be...
I am looking for as much information as possible on oil cleanliness, interpretation of oil analysis, etcc...Applicable to industrial gearboxes and bearings.
Thanks,
Greg
