Assuming that a steel "L" shaped bent plate has the same dimensional properties as a rolled steel angle, are the structural strength capacities the same?
I can see the bent plate having a slightly less strength if the "k" dimension is less but I don't believe that there is a process in place...
Are long slotted holes prohibited for single plate connections if the holes are oriented normal to the design load? The AISC Steel Manual verbiage only addresses standard and short slotted holes but I can't find any LSDT holes prohibition.
