I need to do a frequency analysis on my model, but am not entirely sure how the features in SAP work to do that (ie. what functions do I have to define?)
I am trying to model nonstructural components; hence mass that is additionally attached to the frame. I want to attach the mass to the frame with a stiff link. Hence do I draw a 2-joint link in which I specify high stiffnesses (how high?) in the translational degrees of freedom and then add...
Does anyone know which values I can effectively use for the axial and shear stiffness of bolts and nails which I am modeling as link (nonlinear) elements. Also, for contact surfaces what are stiffnesses that I should be using?
I am also looking for material properties of medium density fibre...
Is anyone familiar with nonlinear modal time history (FNA) cases that continue from other FNA cases. I need to model the gravity across a nonlinear link element in order to determine its response to a nonlinear harmonic force.
Please help,
Theresa
Just to add to my previous question. I don't know how to specify that the post-slip stiffness is zero. I only see options for specifying nonlinear stiffness.
I am trying to determine the sliding distance of a lumped mass (SDOF system) under a periodic load. I am using a one-joint link (friction-pendulum isolator) where I have specified the radius of curvature to be zero. I have specified a stiffness for u1 and u2 (is u2 zero since it is sliding?)...
