    Conductor corrosion measuring

Apparently there are devices that can be placed on a transmission line that tell you how much corrosion is present at that point in the line. Does anyone know about these devices or where to get them. Cheers - Simon

    friction factor

I am trying to accuratly determine the axial force in a screw by knowing the torque applied to it. The screws are very small M1.6 - M3 so an ultrasound method is no good for determining the stress in the screws. Is there are more accurate method of torque control than a torque wrench for such...

    vibration loosening

I have just read a report that says- If a fastener (bolt/screw) has an stress applied to it that is greater than 65% of the yield strength of the fastener, then no matter how severe the vibration the fastener will not come loose. Does anyone have any opinions on the accuracy of this statement?

    Split washers & Vibration

I am mounting a radio transmitter high on a pole. There are a lot (hundreds) of screws inside that all have to be done up by hand, they are also expensive and fiddly due to their small size. It has been suggested to me that split washers will be required due to the pole vibrating. Does anyone...
