UG-36(3) defines cases when additional reinforcement is not required for nozzles. This however applies to "Openings in vessels not subject to rapid fluctuations in pressure..." Does anyone have a more precise definition? What is considered a rapid fluctuation? Is there a frequency...
Table UW-12, for type (4) joint, specifies that Category C circumferential joints should not be over 5/8" thick. Is this refering to the weld leg / collar dimension of the fillet weld? Or to the thickness of the components being welded together? If neither, what does it refer to?
Thank you...

I have a design that uses standard pipe as a shell. At the top of the shell we are adding a very short run of a larger diameter pipe of heavier schedule (call this the seat ring), attached to the main shell by a lap joint double fillet weld (main shell fits on ID of seat ring), in order to...
Hi everyone,
I am new in the field of Pressure Vessel design, and our company is in the design process of some small vessels.
I need to find an outfit that can supply swing bolts (or eye bolts), of different lenghts (I need between 6" and 7" long from the center of the eye), either 3/4" or 1"...
I am currently working on truck mounted equipment which includes three tanks, and an Operator's Cabin, all mounted on Hollow Structural Steel... Other equipment includes piping, and some pumps. I am particularly concerned about the dynamic loading the structural supports for the tanks and...
Does anyone have any experience with flow metering in cement slurry applications? We are looking at flowrates between 50 and 500 GPM, with pressures between 1 psig and 70 psig. Flow is pure Cement Slurry (similar to Portland cement), no other solid add-ons. I have been suggested a Mag meter...
I have an application where I need a flowmeter capable of a turndown ratio of almost 70 (0.3 L/min to 20 L/min)... So far I have not found a single flow meter that would do the trick. Also, this meter will be measuring a controlled variable on a PID control loop, so decent accuracy is needed...
