Hi everybody!
Curious to see if there is any new technology or method for pipeline repair that is not referred in ASME PCC-2 ?
Any comments will be wlcome.
Thanks

Hi everyone!
Talking to local maintenance people, their main challenge is to keep side entering mixers operative for 10, 15 years.
In some instances the tank that cannot stop for maintenance operates without mixers for years. And in those cases we have to remove huge ammounts of sludge prior to...

When emergency drains begin to operate we are to use weir flow approach until we have full/complete section flow. From that condition on, assuming static head is increasing, what would be the best way to estimate water flow? How to consider influence of floating roof in the flow, once water...
We have some 30000 m³ tanks with diesel that, during storms, permit water draining via the emergency drains. The tanks are double deck external floating roof concept. Main drain is not capable in draining storm intensities, and roof cannot cope with heavy water loads.
The water that crosses the...
We have some diesel EFRT.
Tropical storms increased precipitation peaks, and this results in water intake via emergency drains. This increases water dispersion in product, as it flows through the product in its way to the bottom layer.
Water level is then measured and purged according to...
Pipelines still present a lot of hand operated valves. Did anyone solve this extenuating and tyring hand operation by a sort of practical "power kit"?

We have severe cavitation in by-pass loop that has the same configuration of an expansion loop.
Main pipelines are 22" and 38", (2)by-passes are 6" dia each.
Product is oil (API < 20)and we start by-passing at a 11Kgf/cm² pressure difference. Flow speed peaks 16 meters/second in the 6" sections...
Hello, we have some laboratories that wash the glass bottles used to collect, store and perform oil analyses. Products are HC ranging from gasoline to crude oil.
Some sites use simple machines using steam or detergents, and some sites wash them manually, using soap and brush.
Quantities varies...
We started a study to transform 200.000 barrels external floating roof oil tanks in fixed roof ( via aluminium dome )plus internal flating roof tank to contain methanol.
Dome venting design is being conducted as per API 650 in Roof vents 3.10.8
Once methanol has a much wider explosivity range (...
What would be special requirements for a benzene pipeline, say 6" dia and a few kilometers of extension, but in suburban area.
Where could I find design and operation minimum safety requirements, as for leak monitoring system, emergency shut down valves etc...

Did any of the leading centrifugal pump manufacturers that supplies the petroleum industry make any relevant pump developpment ( in pump design and digital control machining)that results in significant efficiency increase over the last four/ five decades? Looking at still running pump stations...
Can anyone help providing exprienced oppinion in use of flexible hose ( composite hose 6" dia) for floating roof draining system.
What is tendence today, repair or install new traditinal articulated arm draining system, or move on to new flexible hose? Pros and cons of the flexible hose?

What would be a practical way to avoid vortex formation at oil tank discharge other than restricting / decreasing discharge flow rate? This is anoperational problem we are facing when purging water ( 8 in purge pipe )from crude oil tanks.
Thank for help
I have in hands a local valve mfg catalog that claims " full trunnion ball valve", from the valve assy' drawing you cannot say it can be repaired in line. Valve is built according API 6D, 12" to be used in clear petroleum products pipeline.
