How does viscosity affects a multistage centrifugal pumps ability to handle air/liquid mixtures. As viscosity increases, can the pump handle more air or less?
Can multistage centrifugal pumps be used to pump rich amines?
Are there any special considerations to be kept in mind when sizing pumps for these applications?
How do we conduct performance tests on hydraulic power recovery turbines? Is there a standard or a document for conduction the same. My main concern is how to measure the KW Output. Thanks
I am looking for the following paper: "Dissimilarity Laws in Centrifugal Pumps AND Blowers" by Stepanoff and Stahl. Any thoughts on where I can find it?
When we scale centrifugal pumps from a model to the actual scale, how do the thrust values change. I am trying to predict the thrust of the actual scale pump by measuring the thrust of the model.
I have 2 centrifugal pumpS having bep at capacities OF 100gpm and 500 gpm respectively. The impellers have the same outer diameter.
My question is in viscous applications(say 500cP) which pump should have the least drop in head and flowrate(when comparing BEP IN OIL to BEP IN WATER).
In centrifugal and axial flow pumps, if we are pumping viscous liquids, does the axial thrust (determined for water) stay the same or does it reduce. If yes, how can we determine the value?
When sizing a turbine flowmeter for an application, what will be the accuracy of a flowmeter when say for example the vendor gives the following info:
Repeatability: ± 0.02% typical
Turndown Ratio:
(Models max. rated flow ÷ min. flow rate)
Up to 1,000:1, reduced accuracy...
I am looking to test a single stage centrifugal pump for NPSH using a viscous oil instead of water.
Would the results be the same as that of water and is there anything I need to be concerned about?
I want to test the pump and plot the NPSH curve.
Please advice how to go about the process. I have no idea as what to measure and how to go about the process
I have been recommended the following for pump design:
Pfleiderer,C. (1961)Kreiselpumpen etc (in German)Springer-Verlag
Can anybody tell me if this book avaliable anywhere? I have tried in vain looking for it.
I have Stepnoff,Church,Lobanoff and Ross.
Are any other books/papers recommended?
I need to bond molten lead to the inner diameter of cast iron housing. The molten lead will be poured in the housing and it will acts as a gas seal. Will it seal or do I need some platings or coatings? The operating temperature is around 400 degree F.
We use O-rings for metal-to-metal seal, to seal-off liquids for a high temperature application. But elastomer are permeable to gases. What would someone use to seal-off both liquids and gases(no permeations allowed) for the same high temperature(400 degree F) application?
