Anyone have the shear stress-strain curve of AF163 film adhesive mfg by 3M? Publicly available?
I'm looking for the data generated following ASTM D 5656 "KGR" extensometer test.
I'm looking to develop an elastic-perfectly plastic idealization of the adhesive for bonded joint analysis.
I reviewed an STC for a thrust reverser that finds compliance to Federal Avaiation Regulations Part 33 "Airworthiness Standards: Aircraft Engines" with the original type certifcate being the engine.
Is this typical for the thrust reverser to be certified to Part 33?
I always assumed it was...
I have the shear stress-strain curves for a film adhesive and have constructed the Hart-Smith elastic-perfectly plastic idealization for the different temperatures. The process used to construct the lap shear test specimens to get the stress-strain curve was a PAA prep with an autoclave pressure...
I'm looking for a technical report, NADC 83084-60 "Non-Autoclave Processing for Composite Material Repair". I had a post in the Composite Material forum but got no love. I've seen the report referenced in multiple public documents so it seems it should be available somewhere.
Does anybody have...
Does anyone have the following report, Naval Air Warfare Report NADC-83084-60 titled "Non-Autoclave Processing for Composite Material Repair"?
I have seen it referenced in multiple documents but have not been able to locate it on the web.

I am trying to locate a Royal Australian Air Force report (may be in draft status) titled "Composite Materials and Adhesive Bonded Repairs - Engineering and Design Procedures", RAAF AAP 7021.016-1. I believe it is part of RAAF Engineering Standard C5033.
I have tried a google, DSTO, and STINET...
I have a component made from 4140 steel heat treated to 180 - 200 ksi that calls for cad plating per Douglas Process Specification (DPS) 9.28 "Special Cadmium Plating For High Strength Steels".
Does anyone know of an "equivalent" AMS, SAE, MIL, or NAS specification in lieu of the original DPS...
I am trying to decipher a European company's composite material allowables in which they use the abbreviation hb for units of stress. I have searched the internet and all of my other resources and I am 99% sure that hb refers to hectobars, 10^2 bars, but I was hoping that someone here could...
Analyzing repairs to metallic aircraft structure by reverse engineering applied loads, having material allowables, and knowing failure modes is a routine action performed by non-OEM engineers in the industry.
Analyzing composite structure is a different animal all together. Material 'A' & 'B'...
I am contemplating changing to another industry and would like some of your thoughts on my situation. I graduated in 2001 with a B.S. in Composite Materials Engineering and have passed my states Engineering In Training test (General category). I have worked as a Liaison engineer for a General...
Hello to All,
I am a relative new guy to the field with only one year worth of experience and I would like to know what other engineers out there use as a joint allowable (per SRM tables)in the following situation.
