How are most of you designing a roof diaphragm that spans across multiple supports (interior shear walls)? Should I look at each span as simply supported or as a continuous beam? If I analyze as a continuous beam is my chord force (M/B) calculated using the positive and/or negative...
I'm working on a project on the main land of Hawaii as the EOR where engineered wood roof trusses are being used. What species would anyone recommend using in this region? Might I consider them being shipped from the west coast or use native material.

How would someone hand the connection at the base for a tilt-up wall panel system for an expansive soil condition that could possibly heave the floor system? Would you still connect the panel to the slab or primarily rely on a connection to the foundation or none of the above?
