johnhors has been one of the most frequent contributors to this forum, this sad news appears in the latest copy of the magazine DEVELOP3D.
DAMT has produced 16 articles for DEVELOP3D, the first 15 were checked by John Horspool. I am grateful for his excellent input and advice over this period...
When I export section properties obtained from Section Designer, some of the properties are missing, e.g. neutral axis position, plastic axis position, and elastic modulus of the flange nearest the neutral axis.
This information is displayed on a table in the menu of Section Designer but I can't...
It seems common that composite material properties are provided for Ea (longitudinal modulus), Eb (transverse modulus), Gab (in plane shear modulus), and nu ab (major poissons ratio).
However (for an elastic orthotropic material) the program requires data for Ec, Gac, and Gbc, and optionally...
Does anyone have any experience of using Acrobat 3D to display results from FE models. Is it possible, useful, any tips?
It looks like it could be a useful way to display results to colleagues and customers.
Can anyone help with the relationship between the ultimate shear strain for a plastic material in pure shear, to the ultimate uniaxial strain for the same material in pure tension? Is it 1.73, 1.5 or some other ratio?
Does anyone know of any relatively inexpensive software that I can use to generate the midsurface faces of parasolid models that consist mainly of thin plates. I would like to be able to convert these so I can mesh them with shells rather than 3D elements.
Many thanks.
