    Question About motor starting

Our cust specify that our pumps need to start under an 80% voltage condition so we size our motors acordingly. We manufacture Cryogenic pumps for the LNG market so we are talking submersible applications. We are starting to question the start torque curves provided to us by the manufacture...

    Cryogenic effects on start torque

I have been told that the avreage start time for a large pump should be in the range of 4-5 seconds. But thus far have been unable to backup this number with any data available. Is there a standard for start times 0-1800-0-3600 or an average that is shot for. On a Direct On Line start basis.

    FLA Rating

Can one calculate FLA or is that just a function of operation. In other words the pump is designed with design criteria being Torque Speed / Eff and you get what you get within reason. Or is there a specific calculation.
