    Waste water treatment facility

I need a good reference book on designing a treatment plant. I am assuming a site to treat effluent from a 100 home subdivision, then 200 home suddivision then 300 home etc. I do not have experience with gravity flow plus storm surcharge. Any help is appreciated.

erosion on downstream edge of road

A road crossing a Desert wash (Apache Junction,Az) is eroding on the downstream edge of the road. The road has a 4 inch layer of asphalt on it. It has scoured 2 ft. below grade on the downstream side and has eroded about 2 ft. into and underneath road. Is there a formal engineering solution to...

    roof drainage

    I have a 70 sq.ft. roof. Rational Equation provides a flow of 0.75 cfs. I = 9.6 in/hr, Area = 7700 sq.ft. C= 0.9 I will install 9 vertical pipes on the roof, connect them to 9 horizontal pipes underneath sidewalks. I am not familiar wiht methodology

    LOMR preparation costs

What are typical fess ( a range ) given a need to prepare a LOMR in a floodway/flooplain area? It is assumed that at least 4 simulations are required by FEMA-- 1. Duplicate original analyses, (HEC2 or HEC-RAS) 2. Duplicate original analyses with current version of HEC-RAS 3. Corrected...

    Design Storms

The following is a policy stated in a County regulation-- Detention facility storage volume shall be adequate to attenuate the post-development peak discharge rates to pre development discharge rates for the 2,10 and 100 year storms. Detention facility outlet structure release rates shall be...

    FEMA D zone

I am trying to have FEMA change the designation of an area classified as D to X. The 16 acre area is clearly not subject to flooding - (semi hill bordered by 2 roads that prevent upstream flows from entering the area.) I would prefer to engage FEMA directly and bypass the State Agencies...

    Pond drain time

POND SIZING-- assuming a pond is full with a 3 ft. depth, a storage of 0.5 acre ft and a 6 inch orifice at the bottom, how does one calculate the time to drain? The assumed elevation of tne .5 ft diameter orifice centerline is 5.25 ft.

    3 tanks linked together

I have 3 large tanks linked together with 18 in to 36 in diameter pipes. The last tank is pressurized and a pump withdraws water to several areas under pressure. How do you calculate the size of pipes needed to link the tanks so that the system can be pumped at 200 psi? Size of tanks is known.

    Infiltration

If one assumes a pond is full of water and the depth from the top of the water surface to the bottom of the pond is 10 ft. assuming a infiltration/percolation rate of 1 hour per inch, how long would it take for the pond to go dry? Assuming you use Darcy's law, and you know the permeability of...

FEMA Letter of map revision LOMR

Does anyone have experience in responding to a LOMR in desert areas like Lake Havasu City in Western Arizona? It needs to address sediment and alluvial channel floodplain mapping issues.

    Strom Drain

I just reviewed a three pipe storm drain Hydraulic Grade Line calculation. How can the peak flow from the combined flows of the two inlets be routed through a detention basin and through a final outlet pipe. A SKETCH IS SHOWN BELOW - outlet pipe from detention...
