Hello all,
Is there a way to link a drawing custom property to a custom property in the part/assy? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere in this forum.
In the File-Properties-Custom tab the syntax I thought would work was $PRPSHEET:"TITLE1" where TITLE1 is the property in the part or assy...
Hello all,
This is my first post in this forum so please forgive my ignorance.
I am designing a large shaft (17.75" OD) made of 4340 alloy steel. See attached picture. The shaft undergoes both axial and torsional loads as well as internal pressure. My analysis indicates a stress...
Hello all,
I've searched the forums and cannot find what I'm looking for so I'll try here.
I do alot of FEA's here and often am unsure about how to determine the safety factor. For example, assume I have a model that is "clean", i.e., critical features are included, the mesh size is...
Hello all,
I am trying to create a part template to use for all of our hot rolled steel raw material (bulk sheets i.e. 4'x8'). I have a design table embedded in my template that specifies several custom properties, including:
StockLength
StockWidth
StockVolume
There are about 53...
Hello esteemed colleagues,
This question is a follow up to thread559-150787.
As recommended in that thread, I deleted the limit distance mate in my hydraulic cylinder assy. There are two instances of this cylinder in my top level assy. The barrel ends are connected to a common weldment so...
Hi all,
Anybody using edrawings 2007 to view old (Autocad 2000) .dwg's? We're trying to implement edrawings/Solidworks but the edrawings viewer is having problems viewing AutoCAD/Mechanical Desktop version 5 native .dwg's.
Any thoughts?

Hello all,
We currently use Synergis' NFM file management system but soon will be switching to Solidworks/PDMWorks. We want to bulk check-in all our legacy .dwg files (~10,000 total). My question is twofold:
1. Is there a way to import the NFM library card data for each .dwg into PDMWorks...
Hi all,
I have a large assembly STEP file that I opened into Solidworks. Is there a way to automatically rename (in SW or PDMWorks) the parts in each subassembly to append the respective subassembly name to the part name? (hope I worded this question correctly).

Hello,
I have a weldment to which I am mating two instances of the same subassembly (a hydraulic cylinder). In the hydraulic cylinder subassembly I have a concentric mate between the rod and barrel, and a limit distance mate between the piston and barrel.
When I mate the barrel end of these...
