0.6D overturning uplift foundation metal building continuation

thread507-352021 so, ya.. kinda clear as mud as far the application i need clarity on (unless ofcourse im reading it wrong again).... when you are doing footing designs for METAL Building frames with no slab to count for contributory weight, it is a BIG DEAL to have to reduce your required...

Metal Building Bolts Wet Set low, Method to Extend up for Nut

Please comment as to the methods for extension of wet set anchor bolts that are sunk and too low to extend above the baseplate for the nut for metal frame building. discuss coupler vs weld please! we have opted for weld, in which case the welder is asking for details ofcourse (request comment...

NTU VS FTU VS TSS VS CLEAR AS MUD swppp

i called the local WQCB official with the question : "can i use a FTU meter instead of a NTU portable "turbidity" meter? He KINDA said yes, but now i am not sure because he also said the "new" protocol actually has a TSS requirement not a "ntu". So, when i google something for a half hour and...

steel stair tread embed (it ryhmes)

thread507-337096 it seems to me that if you got an 8 inch concrete (outside retaining wall say), carve a slot in the form and wet set embed 6.5" a full 10 inch wide (say 1/2" thick) steel stair tread, 300# pt load say at the end of the 3.5' wide stair cantilever, maybe a bolt for "dynamic load"...

Need to suspend a septic waste line over a creek about 90 feet. Want to use pvc (a painted ("pvc can not be exposed to direct sunlight") outer 3-4" line around an interior supply 1 1/2" line) I can find (and also calculate) the maximum support points for the pvc in tables (plumbing code)...

    ECCENTRICITY by cantilever?

question: should an eccentricity not be caused by a cantilevered beam on its supported column? seems to me that it should be, but i dont know/remember how to get at it (based on the worst case unbalanced loading). it makes a big difference in the column calcs.

no rise analysis flood zone fema

never done one... a "no rise analsyis" would it be worth the learning curve?... must back test with fema data and then model the moved and changed drainage channel the client made without permits to prove that there is no rise in the flood levels upstream (downstream?)... HecRas or other...

earthquake seismic retrofit with bolted steel frame

am i to understand that if use a bolted omf "u" frame (for a all window front one (or two) story building) for lateral resistance retrofit (to take the front of the buildiung lateral because there are only windows) i need to use the "tested and accepted" bolt configurations as stated by Fema and...

    ROOF FAILURE STEEL BUILDING CBC

i do not have the resources or time or (brain power maybe) to analyze the entire steel building done by third party 20 years ago. So..... the utmost top roof members (8" deep z channels) failed under a heavy snow load (which the building was not designed for...apparently didnt have to be...

R coefficient for knee braced elevated deck

do i need to use a 1 1/2 for R for a free standing raised retail storage deck (mezzanine)... seismic design class E and and a required 25% of live load included for siesmic (right?) makes 31.25 + 10 dl = 41.25 # /sf!!! with R=1.5, im getting a .7E of .36!! so 15#/sf of storage! thats a lota...
