Controlling parts location in assembly using relation

Could someone help me to write a program relation in assembly mode to automate the parts in assembly. What I'm trying to do is to prompt me to enter parts location, regenerate, and see the assembly got re-assembled using the prompted dimension. I'm doing motion study of an assembly. Thanks APH

Finding nat freq mode using experiment.

I need to get rid of noise "ringing" on aluminum casting from outside vibration at 2kHz. I could do this 2 ways, raise the natural frequency of the casting above 2 kHz (adding mass, stiffening ribs, etc) or place isolation material like rubber/foam sheet inside the casting to absorb the energy...

    Cleaning Micrometer.

I just got old and used (almost antique) micrometers and depth gage. It's pretty dirty and lot of particle/burr deposit in the reading scale. I'd like to take them apart and clean them inside and out before I calibrate them. What type of solution should I use?. MEK?..Acetone?? Any special...

    Negative natural frequency.

I'm doing frequency analysis on COSMOS and resulted in negative natural frequency. It ranges from -3400 Hz to 2700 hz in 13 modes. Something isn't right, but I'm not sure why. any ideas? Thanks APH

    Pressure measurement

Guys, I'm a little low confused on the basic here. I need help. I'm doing a bubble immersion test here, just for fun. The inlet air hose has pressure gage in it. I filled the enclosure with 30 psi of air ( reading from the gage) and I saw air bubble from the seam of my enclosure. Can I say...

    Application of surface mounting gasket

What application paramenters would the surface mounting gasket be used on? I seems like I always like o-ring groove type of seal, rather than gasket surface mount type. What would the surface mounted gasket be more beneficial than having o-ring groove type seal. APH

    Loss torque on gasketted joint.

My application is a rubber gasket, aluminum plate, and plastic flange. These are my component on my gasket joint. My problem is after 24 hours of installation (not even subjective to any elements) I have to re-torque it. It was rounghly 1 in-lbf loss of torque. Once it is subjected to the...

    Learning curve

In the practical/industrial world experiences, what would be an engineer's learning curve looks like. At what stage does an engineer stop/start to slow down learning process. I know that this is very subjective to the engineer/s goal, character, etc. For those of you who has tons of...

    "k" value

What is the "K" value ( friction factor) on thread forming screw on plastic woule be. This K is for Torque = K X nominal diameter of screw X clamping force. I would imagine that it would be higher than 1. Anyone? APH

    Bolted joint with gasket

I have a molded plastic part nut, piece of aluminum stamped part, a gasket, and thread forming screws. This seems to be pretty straigth forward stuff. I need to figure out what clamping force is needed to seal up the joint. This clamping force needed to withstand various vibration effect, etc. I...
