I have the same issues as in thread555-182412 (now closed with no solution).
The drawing is in model space in several view ports (different views) and the dimensions and labelling is done in Paperspace.
When Zoooming in to be able to dimension from a line, the model appears to zoom in further...
I am using AutoCAD 2008 and I have a problem which fairly major and seemingly unsolvable
After opening the layer properties manager, I highlight a specific layer and then click on the colour, in order to change it to a different colour.
Unfortunately, nothing visible happens - usually another...
This is a question relating to the assembly of my personal mountain bike, and I thought that I'd try for some educated answers in this forum rather than from teenagers who don't really know what they are on about on an MTB forum.
I am in two minds whether to apply loctite or anti-seize compound...
In our company, the files names are drawing number - Revision Letter (ie 34562-Rev B). This system has been used historically, and cannot be changed.
All the drawings are stored on a server, and the CAD people create drg on their terminals.
The 'parent drawing' containing x-ref's may be...
I work out of a laptop (Sony PCG-K315B) and I run AutoCAD 2006. Recently I have had access to a BENQ wide/flat screen monitor (which is considerably larger than the notebook screen). I have set it up so that I have AutoCAD drawing screen on the big screen, and the properties, toolbars and text...

I use a couple of different versions (2005 LT, 2006 full etc) and I cannot find a way to default the Text background mask to be on automatically.
It seems that I have to select the text that I want to have the backgound mask on and right click> background etc. If there are more required then I...
As part of my job I have to specify and order the nuts/bolts/washers for our project equipment.
I have been using an excel spreadsheet to list all the bolts (during the design we try to minimise different types and lengths of bolts where possible).
The spreadsheet has the item description (ie...
We have a HP Designjet plotter (uses a roll feed) and the largest drawing frame that we usually print (using AutoCAD 2005) is A1.
I need to print a template of an object that measures approx 14" x 54". I tried a while back to print but with little success. Does anyone know how to do it so...
I've tried reading the AutoCAD help but either it isn't that clear or it doesn't address the specific issue.
On my work computer I have made a toolbar with all the commands I need. I've just set up AutoCAD 2006 and I would like to 'copy' the toolbars from my office computer to my laptop.
Any...
I've just started using ACAD 2006 and when i attach an xref the path (as well as the drawing object I'm attaching) shows on the drawing in a string of text. I've never had this before when inserting xrefs and can't see a way to get rid of the text string.
Would be grateful for any help or...
Some of you may remember I have made a spreadsheet to keep a championship table. I will be handing this over to someone in the club, and I want to make sure that they do not accidentally click on a cell containing a formula (which needs to be visible all the time) and deleting the data/formula...
I have become self employed to earn some extra money on top of my Salaried 'day job'. I am interested in doing drafting work and would like advice on how best to solicit business.
The 'challenge' is that although I have advised my manager of my extra activities, I cannot approach people in...
Does AutoCAD has the same functionality as MS Word. In Word you have a ctrl+f for find, and you can replace words with alternative words.
Does ACAD have the same thing? Or can you run an autolisp or something similar to obtain the same result?
Thanks

Does anyone have a method for folding A1 size paper so that there is one A4 side protruding, which is then hole punched and put into aa A4 size lever arch file.
The A1 drawing can then be accessed by simply folding out the drawing, and not have to remove it from the ring binder file. This in...
I am a Mechanical Engineer in the UK and I am currently undertaking Self-Employed part time work in the evenings (also have a separate day job).
Do I have to get insurance or liability insurance for the work I do?
My work is typically doing CAD manufacture drawings based upon rough sketches...

I have a 2” square hollow section that will have two 16Dia round bars (& thus holes) though the x axis (view from end). My question is regarding the usual notation used when labelling these holes. Usually when labelling holes in flat plate I write ‘ 2-Dia17Holes’. However, when labelling...
There have been similar threads for American standards, but I'm in the UK so they cannot be used. Does anyone out there know any good (free) sites for getting drawing symbols (P&IDs, piping, electrical etc) that match those used in the British Standard? Much appreciate any assistance given.
