Been thinking about having a two part revision number:
1a, 1b, 2a, 3a, 3b, 3c...etc.
The idea is that minor changes (missing a dimension, adding a comment) can be tracked separately from any part design changes.
If a drawing is sent out and I have forgotten a dimension or the client would...
This is my 2nd year of incorporation and going out my own. Last year was alright but now most of my clients are really slow (automotive). To help drum up new business I've been cold-calling and networking. However, it seems that the great majority of people would rather hire me full-time...
I've been reverse engineering a SW part and noticed that some surfaces don't appear to have a split line after mirroring. It looks like the certain features were originally done as a symmetrical piece along the centerline. The model was then split/cut/seperated along the middle to give access...
Although it is easy to export the BOM of a drawing to excel - is there a way where I can upload that data back into Solidworks?
Say you have a BOM where only the 'item', 'qty' and 'part number' have data. The other columns such as 'description', 'material', 'hardness' are empty.

I've started a new job and not sure if I'm quite fitting in. Although it's only been about two weeks - I'm wondering if I'm getting a rep of a geeky keener. Kinda like Martin from the Simpsons.
Anyways, I'm not sure what to do. I really enjoy what I do (mechanical design) and I do it well...
Does anyone know if it's possible to display muliple weldment cut lists on one drawing sheet? I designing guarding and it would be tidy if I could consolidate the cutlists for each panel I'm designing on one sheet.
Thanks,
Tim
Hi,
Does anyone know of a technique or stand alone product that will generate a complete BOM from the main assembly. The main assembly is composed of several sub-assemblies and it would be convienient to have something that would go through the main assembly and generate a list of all the...
Hi All,
Just confirmed the presence of a hole annotation bug for 2005 sp0.0
When a tapped hole is called out, the hole annotation fails to list what the thread pitch is.
This bug can be fixed by modifying the Hole Callout Format File ->
C:\Program Files\ <solidworks2005 directory name>...
Is it possible to change the reference of a mirrored part? I've already tried to edit the reference by clicking the reference button in the 'file open' window but the mirrored part seems to ignore this and maintain it's original link.
