Subject: Prestressed Concrete Beam (girder) in dunnage.
Top of girder is in tension.
How do we design longitudinal regular rebars (non-prestressed rebars) to resist the tension stress at top flange, need references / link.
Thanks.
I would like to get some references about how to calculate size of Roof Gutter and Downspout (roof drain pipe).
It is for Canadian building code, using 15 min rainfall in mm.
Thanks.
Shear wall is 18' long and 10'-6" high.
Wall studs are 2x6 @ 16"
What is the minimum size of individual plywood panel that I can use?
Standars plywood panel is 4'x8'.
Also, what if we have doors or windows?
What is the minimum panel size?
I have to estimate the selfweight of a belt conveyor (carrying earth/rocks).
Width of conveyor is about 4'.
Trough angle is about 30 degrees (each side).
Can someone help me to estimate:
* Selfweight of conveyor and accessories
* Selfweight of conveyor support system, top of support is about 8'...
I have to design connection details for X-braces connected to beams and columns.
Member sizes, Tension and Compression brace-forces are given.
Can someone suggest where I can find references (link, codes etc.) for pass through forces through the joint, how do we design it etc.
I have to design concrete retaining walls for landscaping, wall height 10' from T.O Wall to U/S of slab. Wall height above finish grade will be about 5' to 6'
The neighboring property is already built and has existing retaining walls and/or landscaping.
How close (dimension) can I show the...
I have a concrete foundation supporting concrete column.
Size of foundation is 3000 mm x 3000 mm x 600 mm thick.
There are bottom and top reinforcing for the foundation.
At the vertical face (perimeter) of the foundation, I would put vertical rebars 10M @300 mm spacing with horizontal hook at...
Could someone provide information or link for
3/0 – 11 wire mesh used as concrete slab reinforcing in the 1920’s.
I would like to understand the description 3/0 – 11.
Could someone provide information of concrete cinch anchor for structures built in 1950 to 1960 (link, code etc.)
The cinch anchors are used to fasten steel connection plates to concrete wall/slab.
For seismic upgrade, new 150 mm thick concrete wall will be attached (bonded) with existing 250 mm concrete wall.
15 M horizontal rebar dowels will be provided (Hilti HY-150 into existing concrete wall, rebar projection with standard hook in new concrete wall).
What is the "force" required to...
I have a horizontal stainless steel (SS) base plate with A36 vertical stiffeners.
The vertical stiffeners will be painted after welding with the SS base plate.
Can we weld SS steel to A36 steel?
Would the paint protect the welds from corrosion?
I am designing a pedestrian bridge. It is a one-simple span bridge, with tube (HSS) trusses supported on 4 elastomeric bearing pads.
The bearing pads are subject to water (rain and snow).
Is this possible? Do we have to protect the bearing pads from water, to maintain dry condition?
Re: structural steel
In braced frames the connections should be designed for "pass through forces" shown on the drawing.
I am looking for definition of "pass through forces" and references about this.
Please suggest.
Thanks.
