A problem with the installation package associated with PDMWorks Workgroup Server 2007 SP3.x and SP4.0 has recently been identified. The PDMWorks Workgroup 2007 SP4.0 server download has been removed...
This is from the SolidWorks website regarding PDMWorks SP4. To fix it, you must upgrade to PDMW SP4.2. Upgrading directly to SW2007 SP0 without first upgrading to PDMW SP4.2 will not circumvent this issue. You must upgrade to PDMW SP4.2 first, then upgrade to SW2007 SP0. PDMW SP4.2 is not...
SW2006 x64 SP4.0 is available for download on the SolidWorks website as an official release. Supposedly it's compatible with the 32-bit PDM server, SP4.0. I'll be doing some testing over the next few days, mostly for compatibility, and I'll report back here with the results.
SolidWorks has posted a list of system requirements for SW2006, as well as the supported operating systems. As of SW2005 SP4, SolidWorks will run under Window$ XP 64-bit, but it will be supported as a 32-bit application for the foreseeable future. Our VAR has told me that when running under...
I am attempting to do a video capture in SolidWorks Rx for a crashing problem I am having. However, when I play back the WMV file that is generated, the screen is completely black, so the video file is useless. In the SolidWorks session, my viewport color was white. Does anyone know what...
Anyone who is using PDMWorks SP3.0 should upgrade to SP3.1, which is available for download on the SW website. The reasons you should upgrade are explained in detail on the SW website.
Please note this applies only to PDMWorks Client and Server, not SolidWorks.
If you are using a custom Gtol.sym file, make sure it has been copied into your SolidWorks loadpoint under lang/english before you try to load any drawings that reference your custom symbols. In SW2005, if you try to load a drawing that references symbols that don't exist in the Gtol.sym file...
We are considering upgrading to SW2005, but the process is being held up by a few bureaucrats who want justification for doing the upgrade. Here are the reasons that come to mind; any additional input is always appreciated.

We recently upgraded to PDMWorks 2005, and I have already noticed an interesting difference. In 2004, you could choose "Update/Reload all from vault" in the local view, and all the files in your working directory would be updated, whether or not you had files open in SolidWorks. In 2005, it...
I have been struggling with our document control department for months on the issue of generating BOM's, and I am starting to come to the realization that we may not be able to find an ideal BOM generation tool that will make everybody happy.
Here is the "must" list:
* BOM must always be...
I'm not sure if this has been discussed already (a rudimentary search turned up goose eggs), but I have been trying to get my hands on some older SW service packs. The problem is, the SW website appears to have only the latest service packs. I think our VAR might keep archives of the older...
Our entire user base is experiencing a problem that only seems to be getting worse as our project progresses. The larger our assemblies become, the more often SolidWorks crashes when we try to do basic things, like save the assembly files and check them into the vault. We have been unable to...
I am working with a test install of SW2005 and PDMW2005, and I have come across an interesting situation. After upgrading the license server to 2005, I tried running both products. SW2005 loads fine, and so does PDMW2005 stand-alone. However, when I try to activate the SW Add-In for PDMW2005...
