    Plugging threaded holes while galvanizing

I am trying to find a way to plug or protect threaded holes while galvanizing to eliminate chasing the threads. This would also eliminate a set up and tap process. I have heard that Liquid Nails works with limited success, but there has to be a cleaner way out there. Thanks.

Electron Beam Welding vs. Laser Welding

Does anyone know of a site or have info on the main differences between these two types of welding (i.e. cost, material compatability, ease of use, certifications, applications). We are thinking of implementing one of these to reduce outsourcing. The main material we would be using is stainless...

    High Pressure Testing

Does anyone know of a good safety site for testing at high pressures? We test anywhere from 25 psi to 2500 psi. Our current unoffical policy states that if the pressure is over 100 psi, then a safety shield is needed. No mention of thickness or size is taken into consideration. Just wondering...

    Oxygen Clean?

We are currently "following" SAE ARP 1176 as our guidelines for oxygen cleanliness. Does anyone have a good website for dangers of failing to oxygen clean? Also, any tips for returning to compliance after many years of failing to meet any specs and failing to do any verifying tests. There...

    Welding of 6160 T6 Tubing

We are getting well over 50% rejection rate on our 6160 T6 .500 O.D. X .028 Wall tubing. Most of the rejection is due to porosity. This problem has been going on for years now and no solution has been found. Our 30 year welder seems to think that the hardness has no effect on the quality of...

    MIL-PRF-38201D

We are dealing with an oxygen filler valve that calls out reliability testing at an Inspection Level II. Which for our lot size, the sample size would be 50. In the previous rev of MIL-PRF-38201D, which is MIL-V-38201C, the Inspection level is S-1, which would be a sample size of 3. Our QAR...

    MIL-PRF-38201D

I'm not sure this is the right forum, but I couldn't find one for MIL Specs. We are dealing with an oxygen filler valve that calls out reliability testing at an Inspection Level II. Which for our lot size, the sample size would be 50. In the previous rev of MIL-PRF-38201D, which is...

    Rolling of 6061 T6 Aluminum

I am having a problem with flat spots when trying to roll 1/8" die cut sheets of 6061 T6 Aluminum. The diameter is around 18 inches. I was going to try sandwiching it between something, but can't waste any material. Any ideas? Thanks Ryan Langdon, CMfgT Essex Cryogenics of Missouri
