In the past two years I moved from NT4.0 SP6.0 to XP SP2, new video card with much more memory, from SW2001 --> 2003 -->2004 ---> 2005 SP 0.1
And LAYERS (on the drawing) was always a problem - it does not work about 60% of the time as it should (wrong display of colors, line...
It looks like I can not attach a BALLOON to an item (object, not say a centerline) in ALTERNATE Drawing View.
Now, this is quite complex machine and I do not want to spend time to simplify it before sending it of to SW Rep for analisys.
Has anyone else nad this problem ?
I have around 22 yrs of different CAD experience under my belt and I am capable of designing fairly complex machinery in SW, but THREADS showings are complete puzzle to me.
Sometime they show up on dwgs, sometime they don't. I read HELP on SW, tried this, tried that.

The bracket is an assy of the parts.
How do I produce a mirror bracket in such a way, that if after MIRROR I add another plate to (LEFT HAND)...
Having over 22 years of design on 5 different CAD systems under my belt I am getting sick and tired of bugs in SW.
The latest - just opened a dwg that was previously saved a couple of months ago under SW 2004.
Now one of the views is totally messed up. Neither CTRL-Q, nor rebuilt helps.
When I move a view, the NOTE does not move. How do I attach NOTE to a VIEW or alternatively to a BALLOON, so next time around the NOTE moves when I move THE VIEW or THE BALLON within the view.
When you edit sheet format, are you editing an implicit block ?
Asking, because if it is then it would explain certain things (problems) - thou not all the problems I have
The "Line Thickness" Icon (several lines of different thicknesses stacked up) has "Default" thickness ?
How does it affect the line thicknesses when printing ?

An existing block has 3 cylinders, which suggests that each cylinder could be made as a BLOCK and then inserted into another block as a block.
Could this be done ?
I have created a block, leader "black dot" and "base origin" on the top of each other and located where I want it (within the block)
How do I "snap on" this "base origin" (of the block) to a point on the view ??

SW2005 - Windows XP - from Local drive;
- opened detail
- opened assy
- saved both under 2005
- exit SW
- started SW 2005 again
And now the problem:
- opened detail
- opened assy (in this order)
Assy slow like hell on ROTATION/PAN
- Closed both
- Exit SW
- Reopen SW
- open assy
- open...
I have 10 identical parts in line in the assy. On the DWG in one of the views I see only the first element the remaining 9 being in line are blocked by the first.
Question: Will the DWG load/"manipulate" faster if I go to the tree of that view and "turn off" (whatever the word) the remaining 9...

On the dwg I made complex sketch using lines, splines etc. Later I realised those sketch entities should be on another view.
Q: Any easy way to move those sketch entities to another view ?
