I just had a discussion with one of my colleges and was wondering if we were working on one of the last nacelle engine mounts for aircraft.
My belief is that in-body planes are more fuel efficient and will accommodate more passengers’ for the size. What are some thought along this line of...
I’ve made a three piece crank that will use two sets of Corilla rods for a 750 Harley
That said my question is will the rod journals made of 4340 HT to R/c 48-50 and nitride to 60c hold up as well as an 8620 HT to R/c 60-62.
My concern is that I have not seen a set of roller cranks or rods...
I am looking for a leaf or trap door design to be used in aircraft scaffolding. The design I remember was a light weight door that you lifted up and it dropped down in a slot at the pivot.
Any confirmation or help will be appreciated.

I am in desperate need of a ceramic to use in a head gasket setting.
I have used Macor with the thousand little pieces after it was run for 20 minutes. I think it actually broke up when we un-torqued the head. (no carbon in the cracks)
we tried aluminum oxide and it broke radially with no...
We have wrapped a multi-piece mold with carbon fiber prepreg
and are having problems with removing the segments that were to let the mold collapse. My guess is that some of the resin has weeped into the segmented mandrel and has locked it up.
Is there a way to soften the resign after cure?
We...
I have a project that the customer wants to use 4 gears to reduce RPM
My problem is I can't get my head around the concept of dividing load. I would think at the very lest it would pair up with two gears and cause a harmonic vibration with the other two. His idea is to replace a planetary gear...
Is there any info about docking a tool into a robotic station?
Our present design uses self leveling jacks at a cost of $4000.00 a piece.
We would appreciate any existing systems and cell design.
Cheers

I did a search and I hope this is the right place to post as it is a trend.
I was told after 13 Years of contracting here that I need to go direct or go home.
The new definition of a contract engineer is a temporary employ of 1 year or less.
The word is that there was a suit by some Microsoft...
I want to build a 500cc twin with a 75mm piston and 55.5mm stroke.
because of limited cams, My other options are to bias cam follower profile and rocker ratios. Can I do anything with either/or both of these?
The motor is vertical twin with 6" rod and 11.5 CR for a Land Speed Record
The original...
I built this gasket for a Moto Guzzi as a test bed to see if an embedded igniter with four paired electrodes would work as a perimeter ignition.
I knew that I would have a timing problem but I am back firing through the exhaust at on/off throttle. The Lambda numbers are ~19. I took 3 of the...
I read some time ago, that there is a motor to use on an end effector that will recognize speeds and feed requirements as the different materials present themselves.
Is it possible as we drill through Aluminum to 15-5 Stainless for the load on the drill motor to change the speed and feed on...
Is there a speed or condition that is calculable for Supercavitation to work as in a Land Speed Record...or even in atmosphere..? Does it only work with fluids?...
I understand it would not work for aircraft as it would take away the flow to control surfaces.
Thanks in advance

I did not realize that I was the last one in the world to have this Idea but here it is:http://www.insightcentral.net/encyclopedia/enoffset.html

Is there a diminishing return on offsetting the bore over the crank?
I have moved it 1 and 2mm toward rotation and did not get the results I expected, although it is easier then stock to push the piston down by hand . This is a parallel twin but I guess applies to all in line engines.
Is...
Is there a way to fool the computer in eliminating the timing advance as RPM increases?
All my mapping is for fuel......
The project needs the spark to always fire at 6* before TDC as we are introducing another flame front at every 1500 RPM and it will mess up our dyno test.
Thanks in advance...
I am unable to keep the GD&T in ANSI as a positional tolerance. It will show up in ANSI as I make the input, but when I say OK, it reverts to ISO. Plus I loose my diameter symbol in front of the tolerance. Is there a way to lock in ANSI?
Thanks in advance
I did a search.... Nada

I am using a flexible strap (part) in four different locations in the same product.
How can I show the profile of the strap (part) in different configurations so that my instances will be reflected in the BOM?
Thanks in advance

We are building a robot station, and would like some input on whether to bolt straight to the concrete floor with potted inserts, or to lay in a steel plate with threaded grid to bolt in the assy tools and the robot.
The robot will zero off the tool at every part change.
Any help or warnings...
Is it possible to eliminate the torque converter and valve body then use external hydraulics to select shift.
I may be reaching but I have a request to prototype a 6 speed 8" in dia and 18" long transmission.
I dont know how I get into these I am mostly doing PSRU's for small aircraft engine...
