I designed a SR wall recently. It is approximately 18 feet tall and 1000 feet long. The wall supports trafic load and has a 3 to 1 slope at the toe. At one section of the wall we cannot extend our geogrid into the easement. This is located approximately 3.5 feet behind the blocks. Wall height at...
I designed a Segmental block retaining wall. Now, the City asked for a guard rail on the wall. I do not know how to calculate the loads due to guard rail and the effect on geogrid layers. I know that impact load per AASHTO is around 10 kips. Can somebody give some guidance on this? basically, I...
I am designing a 10 feet tall segmental block retaining wall in South Carolina. The project is located near Charleston(Dorchester County). Do I need to consider seismic loading in the design for this area? I don't have any geotech report. I couldn't find anything about it in the SC...
I am desigining an approximately 18-foot tall and segmental block retaining wall that has a 3 to 1 slope on the toe side. A wet pond is planned for construction at the toe of the above mentioned slope. I ran a slope stability analysis of the wall using SLIDE program for long term (when pond is...
