Look at the following formulas
v = (354 * Q)/ DN^2 then Q = (v * DN^2) / 354
t = (5157 * Q ) / (DN^2 * dP)
Added those formulas together i get;
t = (14.56 * v)/ dP
For liquids v is aprrox. 5m/s
So the valve size is not a factor in closing time, only pressure?!? So the...

I know the dimensions for flat head, 'double d'. I use standard ISO EN 5211. But what can i use for machining 'single' flat head?
Is just the same as ISO EN 5211 and only machine one side at the stem / shaft?

My question:
I need to registrate opening- and closing times according to EN161. Can i do it without appling a working pressure to the valve? In other words, can i test it 'dry'.

Our company wants to let an institute (SwRi) to perform a fire safe test according to API 607 and BS 6755 on our high performance butterfly valve. I have to prepare the test valves. They have to be deliverd installed between pipe.
My Question is: "How do i get the flanges tight?"...
