We are manufacturing a thin skin (1mm) L-band antenna (1.5GHz)from E-glass epoxy. Ons of the problems we are facing is that there seems to be moisture migration through the skin, which to the antenna guys is a problem. This seems to occur at molecular level, as the void content of the laminate...
Dear reader,
We are currently manufacturing quite large panels for a scientific base from the following materials:
Skins : E-glass/phenolic (Cellobond 2027), 6mm thick
Core : Polyurethane foam, 120mm thick
The sandwhich panels are typically 7m long, 2.4m wide and 120mm thick. They are trimmed...
In the older versions of Ansys one used the minor poisson's ratio NUXY etc when giving orthotropic material proerties. In version 6 the major poisson's ratio PRXY is required. What is the definition of PRXY, and what is the conversion to NUXY.

Can anybody shed some light on the EMI properties of typical carbon/epoxy laminates. Is additional screening such as flame/arc spraying, or nickel coated carbon veils or metallic meshes really required, or is the carbon laminate sufficient for EMI screening.
Additionally, should a carbon...
