I am using MW to heat SiC in reactor(V = 12 litres). I am facing two problems. The energy required to heat the bed at constant temp of 160 °C is ever increasing. The temperature distribution in the SiC bed is also very bad,temp. How can i solve or improve these conditions?

Can anyone please suggest me how can i increase heat transfer in a reactor bed filled with SiC(1-2mm particle size).The heating element is on top of the reactor attaining a temp of 250°C at the top layer.The reactor length is 450 mm and diameter 270 mm.Thanks in advance.
