Hey...just finally upgraded from 2007 to 2009.. The one thing that I notice not entirely related to Solidworks is that all the solid works files no longer have a thumbnail image of the part/assy/drw anymore...it's just a generic Solidworks icon representing either of the three...has anyone else...
Is there a way to create a plane and insert an image onto it...the very same that you would do in Alias to generate 3D surfaces from 2D prints...
I ask this because I want to to some free-form surfaces and I will insert Front/Top/side views of the object, to be specific a car, and model the...
I've been searching for a way to suppress a feature, so when you use:
INSERT >> MIRROR PART
about a plane it leaves the feature in the parent part but does not transfer it to the mirrored part. We engrave our logo into the part and unfortunately our logo is not symmetrical...so as it stands...
okay...I'm wondering if it's just me or if others are experiencing the same thing... When I have a part that has a left and right side...I create one of them and then just mirror the part to create the other half...everything works fine with the exception of tapped holes...they transfer over...
Hello,
I sent out a sample of material to determine it's properties and chemical composition in the hope of narrowing down the material... Unfortunately the metallurgist cannot specify a material for this part as it's a non US spec material... Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can go...
Hey...I'm just trying to find out what some of you guys see as a range for the static forces on the lower ball joint stud...
Here's what I have... the static loaded weight if each front wheel is 1320 lbf. Using a 3/4/5 rule for y/x/z. I have 3960 lbf(x-axis), 5280 lbf (y-axis), and 6600 lbf...
I wasn't paying attention, but when I wanted to delete the <dim> tag to override the dimension...the alert box pulled up, but as mention I wasn't paying attention and keep typing away with what I wanted to override it with...well I must have agreed to something, because I cannot delete the <dim>...
Okay...first off I'm not asking for a copy of the SAE specs...what I'm trying to do is find out, before I purchase the specs, if the following SAE specs are the correct ones to dictate "Grade 10.9 rolled metric threads"

Will subsequent machining to already Q&T material effect the temper of the material? I have been asked this question and materials is not my specialty so I figured someone here must know the answer. I am told the material is 300 series stainless, but I didn't think 300 series is typically...
Okay,
I am in the process of designing a set of long tube headers for my car...I am doing this just because I want to take this on...I have an Me back ground and this should be easy for me to figure out...but I am stump as it' been so long since I was in school...I know no excuse...
Obvously...
Okay this may be a redundant question, but I have a question about a term I see on composite parts that are geared towards automotive components, specifically hoods, decklids...etc...
I see a lot of marketing terms out there such as "silver carbon fiber", which is nothing more that Hexcel's...

My tentative process is to use Hawk Ind. Hi-gloss clear P/N 1904-045 as the first step (I am waiting to hear back from the sales rep on whether or not a tie coat is needed to...

Does anybody know anything...
