    Old SolidWorks Mitre saw assembly

Does anybody have or know where I can get the old mitre saw assembly that solidworks used in the past? If first you do succeed...try something harder. Blair H. SW 2009 sp3.0, HP x4600 3.16ghz Intel Core2 Duo, 3.0 GB ram, Nvidia Quadro FX 1700 Space Pilot Pro...they ROCK!!

Rumor of SW kernel expiring in 2012

I recently received a disturbing, well more like annoying, phone call from a PTC rep. They were trying to tell me that the SW kernel license from Seimens will expire in 2012 and cause SW to switch everyone over to Catia. Or, as he put it, switch to Creo from PTC. I had to contain my laughter...

    PDM Enterprise

Our company is looking to use PDM enterprise to help streamline our documentation. We recieved a quote and...ouch. Our IT guys also informed us that if it uses "Microsoft SQL Server" we can look to spend a whole lot more cause of the software anf hardware required to run it. We are a relatively...

    Insufficient memory error

This is just a general question. Has anyone been having problems with SW-any version giving insufficient memory errors. I currently have 2GB of ram and my VM is increased to 4X my actual memory. Besides trying to go to a 64bit system, which will require me to use two computers for everyday...

    Proper counterweight design

Does anyone have a website or info on properly designing a counterweight for vacuum pumps and/or air compressors? I have a funny feeling that we may be using a counterweight that is not properly designed for our application. If first you do succeed...try something harder. Blair H. SW 2008...

    Oval sweep

Has anyone come up with an easy way to create an oval shaped helical sweep? It would be like a formed aluminum tubing. I've used a 3D sketch before but is is labor intensive. "Perfection - a result of many mistakes." Blair H. SW 2007 sp2.0, HP x6400, 2.0ghz dual core xeon, 2.0 GB ram, Nvidia...

    Creating a watermark in SW2008

Has anyone tried making their own watermark in SW2008. You know something that would go across the drawing that would say DRAFT or something. I print on a BW laser printer but everything seems to come out black. I haven't tried printing in grayscale yet. "Perfection - a result of many...

    Solidworks memory doesn't dump

Has anybody experienced their physical memory be eaten by solidworks. What i mean is that once you close a part, drawing, etc... solidworks doesn't dump the memory allocated for opening that specific file. Also has anyone notice how much mem it actually takes to open SW. Mine uses 200 to...

    Possible video card problem

Every so often I'll open a drawing or model and get a big black bar along the left and top of my viewport pane of Solidworks. I'm using a HP xw8000, Xeon proc, 1.5GB Ram, Nvidia Quadro4 380XGL card. The only thing is that the video driver I have is from HP NOT Nvidia or the one listed on SW...

    Dimensions and notes disappear SW2006

I've just installed SW2006 SP1 about 1 1/2 weeks ago and every so often I'll open a drawing or part and the dimensions and note text will be missing. I am still able to select them. Once a close the file and reopen it, it's fine. Any ideas what might be wrong? "Perfection - a result of many...

    FDA Software Validation for SW

    File sizes reduction for DWG/PRT/ASM

Does anybody have suggestions for reducing file sizes of parts, drawings and assemblies in SW? I'm a detail oriented engineer and like to see everything how it's going to be once it's manufactured. That includes true screw and pipe threads. I have one assembly that's close to 100mb and only...

    Rotation problem w/2004 sp01

I have recently installed SW2004 SP01 and I have a problem rotating my models, with a spaceball 5000, when they are in HLV with the draft quality HLR/HLV button turned off. Basically SW crashes giving me an "unhandled error". I reloaded the latest drivers for the spaceball and still...

    Suitable plastics for cryogenic service

Does anybody have suggestions on what kind of plastic to use in a cyrogenic vessel. The liquid is approx. -300° F. The plastic would only be exposed periodically, maybe twice a day for about 1 to 2 minutes at a time. I've thought of using PFA but wanted to find alternatives. No stresses are...
