Does anyone have any experience or examples about using municipal wastewater efluent as a raw water source for "ultrapure" water?

What is the correct/best way to "store" rapid pressure filters during stoppages, long and short?
Our water treatment plant manufacturer recommended (but wasn't sure) that we should dewater the filters when they are not in use...
