Hi
I am involved in a geotechnical investigation for a Lock in Ontario. The Lock floor slab is in poor shape due to a combination of poor concrete and unbalanced hydrostatic pressure of about 10 to 20 feet on the Lock floor when the Lock is dewatered. The Lock slab is supported on bedrock...
Hi
I am in Ontario Canada and the structural has asked me to provide a kh for lateral earth pressure design. My question is what is the procedure (step by step) for getting the kh value and if there are any good references. I have done a search on this forum and looked at the Mononube-Okabe...
The structural engineer wants to know how much impact group effects have on pile capacity (downward, uplift and lateral) and how much can the loads be increased for transient loads. Does anyone know a good reference for these?
How would one calculate the ULS, SLS for a friction pile? The method I use is I calculate the Allowable capacity based on working stress design, then use the factors in the Canadian Foundation Engineering Manual to calculate the ULS. But how would one get the SLS?
Will appreciate any input...
Does anyone know how much impact frozen soil have on lateral load capacity of H piles? We have to do a lateral load test on H piles shortly. Is it advisable to do it if ground is frozen? If not what is the alternative? Also if there a gap between pile flanges and web post driving does this...
I have a project where the contractor is installing 4 inch steel pipe into the ground by vibratory methods. The design loads are low 15.9 kN for bearing, 3 kN for lateral and 10.2 kN for uplift. How does one calculate capacity of these piles? Can skin friction still be taken into account ...
Hi I have a compaction grouting project and I would like guidance on the things to observe or record in the field and if possible a form which l can use.
Thanks
Does anyone have expereince modelling piles with GEOSLOPE/W. We are trying to stabilize a slope by driving timber piles at the toe of the slope. Due to small size of piles with respect to slope we are not having any improvement in slope stability. Even when I specify a really high cohesion...
Does anyone know of an online reference which deals with the tests required in Canada for deadman anchors.
I know that pull out tests, performance tests, proof tests and creep tests are conducted on tie back anchors but are these required /applicable for deadman anchors also.
We are installing steel pipe pile on sloping bedrock. Is there any way to ensure that piles do not slip? Also the length of piles is 3m with the overburden bring silty clay. Will this cause problems with lateral stability of piles? What can be done to enhance lateral stability?
Appreciate...
We are installing open-ended pipe piles to bedrock. After installation the piles will be plugged with concrete. Can the contribution of the concrete be taken into account for pile bearing capacity? How can this be estimated.
Hello,
I am working on a project where I am trying to model blast vibrations from an open pit mine and their impact on a nearby embankment. Does anybody in this forum have any experience with such a situation. ANy programs references you can suggest.
Appreciate any help in this regard.
