    lime calcium chloride blend

Hi Solids, some humidity present in atmosphere .? about 15% huimidy volume% in above atmosphere) Would a blend of clacium chloride (CaCl2,6H2O) 70% wt and lime (Ca(OH)2 30% corrode carbon steel at 70°C

    flow across plate

Hi. I could not find any correlation that suits me. and hole size is too large to apply distillation data?. I have a horizontal plate with holmes 4 inches in diameter. (100mm) air is flowing from bottom at velocity around 10 m/s through the holes Wtaer is flowing from top ratio of L/G is...

    SMO254 acidic seawater

Would SMO254 Alloy (6-6.5%Mo) be usable, at 40°C in acidic seawater, pH 2.3 and in a very reducing environment? (SO23) so wz have chlorides (seawaterà SO2 / sulfuuric qsp pH 2.3 what worries me is SO2, creating a reducing environment

    dilute ammonia corrosion 304

Hello Are alloys like 304 / 304L suitable with dilute ammonia / ammonium sulfate solutions, at pH 9 and at 40-80°C temperature range. It's for a heat exchanger. Concentration will be low (<0.5 gram/liter NH3/NH4+) other species present SO4--, Na+ Chlorides: less than 0.2 gm/liter

    sulfuric acid tanks

Hello, I am not too sure about what is best. For a 94% sulfuric acid storage (5m3), room temperature , what is best in terms of corrosion? Carbon steel or stainlass? I know that carbon steel should be OK, but some people insist on stainless I also have a second, related question. the...

ammonium removal from conc. waste water

Hi, I have a concentrated waste stream that contains ammonium (sulfates & chlorides) concentration is high (10-50 g/l), flowrate is small (<0.5m3/hr) What would be the best technique for removing ammonia?(transformation into nitrates is not an option, use of NaCl0 is not an option) Will a...

    HCl passivated

Hello, I have heard about so called passivated HCl that is a blend of Formaldehyde and Hydrochloric acid. I is used for cleaning of pipes, ..... I'd like to know how much less corrosive the HCl becomes, to steel, when formaldehyde is added. Does it make a great difference to add the formaldehyde?

    waste water treatment residence time

In a waste water treatment coagulation tank, where TMT15 or the like is added to precipitate heavy metals like Hd, Cd and Pb, what would be the mimimum allowable residence time? I am not reffering to the decanter that follows but to the precipitation tank, before poly electrolyte is added

    galvanic corrosion

I am not a specialist at all in corrosion. When I read the galvanic Series, I see two entries for 316L (active) and (passive) How do I know which entry to select? in itself, 316L is OK for this environment. I want to check if I have significant galvanic corrosion between 316L and Titanium...

    AISI 321 corrosion

We have in one instance, tremendous corrosion with AISI 321 used in a gas burner shaft. The gas burner reheat flue gas. Outlet (shaft outside) is around 250-300°C Inside (high temperatures, resulting from flame) The only factor is that when we have corrosion, the flue gas outside contains HCl...

incidence of temperature on explosion limits

I'd like to know, for H2 / O2 / inerts, how temperature affects the LEL and the MOC. I have found a general equation, but I wonder if H2 could behave specially, as often ? I am speaking of 250°C.

    swirling vanes

We are trying to design a set of swirling vanes that would force a swirling motion of air in a duct of 3.1 m in diameter. I would like to know how to calculate the optimum number of vanes for this task. The whole idea is to have something that would behave like a uniflow cyclone, for the removal...

    Free jet decay

I have a venturi, with a rather long divergent, half-cone angle 4°, with average velocity at outlet of about 22 m/s (air). (flowrate divided by cross section at outlet point) The size of the venturi is rather large (about 0.6m diameter at outlet My question is the following: How do I estimate...

    corrosion inhibitor

Please forgive me if this is a naive question: Formaldehyde is described also as a corrosion inhibitor. To what extent can it be used to protect alloys like 316L for HCl (hydrochloric) corrosion. What kind of effective concentration would we be talking about?

    Utimet and acidic calcium brines

Would anyone report significant corrosion of Ultimet, under acidic conditions (pH 0.5-2), with calcium chloride brines (60g/l) at 60°C temperature. (usage:nozzle) Some erosion can also be here due to gypsum crystals at high velocity.
