I am looking for Transformerless AC/DC Converter IC. Anybody can help me on any semiconductors manufacturer do produce the IC of below rating :-
Input AC :- 220~240 V
Output DC :- 12 V
Output Current : 0.5A-1.0A
I am using BA6219 reversible motor driver from ROHM. The Resistor connected to the BA6129 is 10 ohm 5 Watt.
The 10 ohm is connected to input of the 18 V unregulated adaptor which is supply to Pin 8 of the motor driver. The 7812 output is supplying 12 V to the rest of the circuit.

I am working on a project to measure the life span of a DC motor in oscillating movement. The project can consist of PICmicro with LCD Display. I would like to get some ideas and the standard way to measure the life span ? Pls comments and give ideas.
I have a circuit connected in this way, the input voltage supply from non-regulated adaptor is 18V 1000mA.

I would like to know what is the different in between metal contact and carbon contact on the above subject. Why the carbon contact have higher noise and any method to reduce the noise of the motor ?
