    moving load output

Im new to useing moving loads in SAp2000 (v14). I have gotten things pretty much as I want them and now what particular output. I have a multi span with say 4 widely spaced wheel loads. I analyse my model and I get the correct maximum reactions at each support. What I want is at a...

    force envelope?

I've worked with SAP for awhile and it seems like there should be away to look at a force envelope...covering some number of cases rather than having to look at each case seperatly and then determine the worst ...has anyone come across a way of doing this?

    joint pattern loads

I am new with the joint pattern feature in version12. It seems like when I assign a pattern....and give it a wt. per unit volume.....and then give it an additional unit load...I would get that unit load times the distance below my datum(in this case zero)plus the additional load...assuming when...

    model won't finish analyzing

I models a building....all columns are fixed at the base. The model runs and completes with vertical loads but if I put in lateral loads distributed on the frames it will not finish analyzing. Does anyone have any ideas?

    pre mixed mortar

i have a contractor that is putting up a masonry block building. He showed up this morning with tubs of mortar already made to lay the block with. He said this is the method they typically use....and the mortar is enough to last him a couple of days. I have never seen this before...typically...

    Masonry wall attachment

I have a steel framed building that is going to have a 10" CMU wall as its exterior. The design of the wall requires some tie back to the steel framing. I have seen a few details of dovetail type anchors used to do this but I havent seen any thing that gives capacities....I am sure they have...

    Masonry wall

I am looking at designing a masonry wall with the allowable stress method in ACI 530. Section 2.1.1.2.3.3 gives strength reduction factors????....are these used in allowable stress somehow?

    glass wall

sorry if this is a repeat from the structural forum...but it was getting no love... I am looking for some advise on how to check the capacity of some glass walls. This is laminated insulating glass. the panels consist of 3 panes the outer layers are 1/2" and an inner 1/4" layer with 3/4"...

    structural glass design

I am looking for some advise on how to check the capacity of some glass walls. This is laminated insulating glass. the panels consist of 3 panes the outer layers are 1/2" and an inner 1/4" layer with 3/4" spaces between the panes. The panels are 7' wide and 15' tall only supported at the...

    viewing sloping members

I want to look at just the top chords of a group of trusses that I have modeled....these are sloping members so if select an elevation along the chord I only see the node at that elevation. If I go above the entire structure all the elements below show up making it difficult to deal with only...

    angle design

I have a situation where I have to have an equal leg single angle that is in bending. I am using asd 89....and the appendix addresses these angles. My problem is that when I use equation (5-4)...Fob is equal to 450...this appears way to big when I try to plug it back into (5-3 a or b)...my...

cutting an area out of tunnel floor

I have a large tunnel that I need to put a spread footing in. The tunnel is 100 years old and the existing floor cannot support the load new column load. I am proposing cutting a section of the floor out to install a new spread footing. The box section that represents the tunnel obviously...

    unbraced length

I have a model that has a number of long girders. I input the beam reactions on the girders so I did not have the beams themselves in the model. The beams would also serve to break up the unbraced length of the girders. How can I input the unbraced length of the girder? What I have been...
