    Motoman NX100 serial communication protocol

Need to communicate on RS-232 between Motoman NX100 and PLC in order to send to robot job# and some other variables, and to receive readback, error codes, etc. Where can I find the protocol basic description? Yes, I know it may be a proprietary protocol. Still somebody may have the information...

Connecting safety relay input circuits to PLC inputs

Our packaging machinery OEM company is using safety relays in dual channel manual reset configuration, with ground fault and short circuit monitoring. We would like to split signals from certain points of safety switches serial chain, for applying to PLC DC inputs. Does anybody know about...

Inexpencsive source of high-pressure air- question to experts.

Is there a relatively inexpensive way to produce low quantities of 200-300 bar compressed air? The quantities required are very little- lets say 0.5-1 liter per 24hrs operation and the air is not for breathing.

AutoCad2000 file size. How to reduce?

I create a new drawing file and it is ~25kB size. Then I copy a single line of text from another drawing and paste it into the new one. The file size immediately becomes over 1.7MB, close to the source drawing file size. After purging all in the recipient file it's size remains the same and...

    Automatic snap in Acad2000

Is there a way in Acad2000 to control the snap On/Off automatically as follows? - On command entry the snap should go Off. - When objects selection is done the snap should go On. In both cases it should be possible to alter the snap status manually.

    Strange failure of magnetic sensors

I have a very strange issue with magnetic sensors in my new project. Four Numatics 940-300-032 Hall effect sensors are attached to two 50mm bore SMC pneumatic cylinders and connected to Allen Bradley Micrologix 1500 inputs. The sensors repeatedly go out of order, one or several at a time...

    PLC choice question

Using currently Mitsubishi FX1N/FX2N, I need for some projects a faster PLC (meaning shorter scan time). The ideal choice must meat at least all of the following: - Be a single-unit enclosed PLC with 24VDC power and transistor outputs. - Be expandable. - High-speed inputs on the main unit...

    Miniature fuses with high IR

I urgently need to find 1/4" diameter cylindrical fuses with IR rating at least 3kA on 208 VAC (better 5kA or higher). I've found one in Ferraz Euro Fuses, however I need one which is UL or CSA aproved (I am in Canada). Does anybody have suggestions? Thanks in advance.

How to insert BMP into Acad200 dwg?

I have inserted them using Insert-Raster Image. However, empty rectangles are displayed if the source files change location (meaning only references were inserted, not bitmaps themselves). It's Acad2000 under WinXP.

Stepmotor mode- half step vs full step

After long time using of stepmotors, I have developed strong impression, that stepmotors have much better acceleration/deceleration capabilities in half-step mode. Unfortunately, my experience is limited to only one brand, and they do not provide the torque curves for half-step mode. Is my...

    480VAC question

Our canadian OEM company starts selling packaging machinery to US. Currently the standard input power is 3PH 208VAC, but we want to offer 3PH 480VAC option as well. The question: according to the US codes, is it acceptable to feed a control panel with 480VAC, assuming that there is only one...

    PLC brands comparison

I hereby invite all you to suggest the best by your opinion PLC brand and family. The suggestion should be argumented, not just a personal preference. Another words, mention at least one property that makes this PLC a better choice than another ones. Let's limit the subject to single unit...

Simple pin-to-pin communication cable for Mitsubishi FX series

Yes, it exists and it works. I invented it myself. The information is offered to Bejers Electronics (SC-09 cable manufacturer) but it looks like they are not interested to purchase it. My offer to them expires on June 1. Then I gonna disclose the information in many places, including here.

    Interrupt nesting in Mitsubishi FX1N

Being recently involved in debugging of FX1N program with massive interrupts, I have performed some simple programming tests to clarify for myself the FX1N behavior in sense of interrupts nesting and lost interrupts. Some of the results are unexpected. Test 1. High-speed pulse output Y0 is...

    Sink/Source input definition warning

Attention everybody. The Mitsubishi definition of Sink/Source input is directly opposite to the Allen-Bradley's. Mitsubishi defines input by being sinked or sourced by the sensor or contact. AB defines input by being itself sinking or sourcing for connected external device. As a result, our...
