Consider a valve body for inline flow simply described as three coaxial cylinders. An inlet, central body and an outlet. All round and the inlet/outlet of the same diameter. The Central body is a larger diameter.
My question is when determining the wall of the central body, do we not use 2/3...
I have need to determine laminar flow in an annulus, and I am not sure what to use for the diameter (hydraulic diameter).
My references tell me that hydraulic radius or diameter is not applicable to laminar flow. So my question is what "diameter" should be used to calculate Re as well as flow...

I was just advised that John Breen (and others) can refer me to ancient ASME papers that, at one time, were published explaining the logic behind the code...

My plots have one problem. The dimension text is not printing.
The dim lines, arrows, etc. do print. Any regular text placed on this layer also will print.
It only occurs on a new drawing that I just created. Not previous ones. I cannot find any settings that are different, but there must be...
I find that the "border" of the viewport in paper space, will plot unless it is expanded to outside of the paper itself.
This isn't a big issue, just really curious if there is another way to do this.

I am a mech. engr and I have a client that will require several beam designs in different sizes and loading.
They will all have uniformly distributed loads, that do not extend the full length between simple supports.
Also I might have the same in a statically indeterminate (3 supports)...
I assume that bars of A36 in thicker sections have lesser mechanicals than the small sections.
That said, does anyone have yield and tensile (room temp) for HR flats in cross sections of 1" x 6" and 1" x 8"?
