I am doing some FEA analyses and also have a chance to run tests to verify my models.
I have two questions:
1. What do you measure when you run verification test? Displacement or strain?
2. How to verify the permanent deformation start to happen? Some localized yield stress may not be able to...
I am analyzing a structure which have two plates (50x100mm and 150x80mm)connected by three rivets.

One engineer told me that he likes to use strain energy number for design guideline, i.e. strength high strain energy area. Is this correct?
By the way, what's the different between strain energy and energy norm?
Thanks.
Anbody have experience on FEA analysis on plastic parts? I have read some article and most people suggested that nonlinear FEA should be used. Is that true?
I understand that the stress-starin curve of plastic is different from that of metal. However, I still would like to use linear to start...
I am do a linear static analysis using 100 N. If I want to know the displacement and stress for 10 N, Can I just scale down the stress and displacement?
How accurate is the scaled result?
