Do LED light tables used in the cleanroom for visual inspection (in biopharma industry) require periodic light intensity measurement? If yes, then what is the reference cGMP or FDA standard
Hi,
I am trying to develop FMEA for not inspecting parts per acceptance sampling standard. Any input or reference document will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
We have a seat design for ball valve that produces high break torques. To save actuation costs, we need to redesign the seat geometry in order to reduce the torques. Is there any guideline or book for seat design that advises on seat geometry for low torques and at the same time not compromising...
Does anyone know the calculations for determining the value of the downstream seat sealing force against the ball when there is no differential pressure in a floating balll valve?
Does anyone know what is the test pressure for the seat closure test of control valves? Per ANSI FCI-70-2, test pressure should be 51psi (when test fluid is air or nitrogen) which is only a low-pressure test. Per ASME B16.34, the seat testing pressure should be 1.1 x rated pressure of the valve...
While comparing the leakage rates of ANSI FCI 70-2 Class V against Class VI, I realized that Class V has lower allowable leakage than Class VI. For example: 2" Class 150 metal seated valve with Class V rating has a leakage rate = 0.285ml/min while the same valve with soft seats and Class VI...
Why the torque output in the rack and pinion actuator during air stroke (when springs are being compressed) is less than the torque generated by the spring return stoke? As per Hooke's law applied force on the spring should be equal to the restoring force of the spring so the torques should be...
Does any know or point me to the calculation method for computing the joint strength of 2" NPT (SS-316 material) Male (valve endcap)x Female (valve body) threads? Also need to calculate the shear strength of the threads.
Does any know or point me to the calculation method for computing the joint strength of 2" NPT (SS-316 material) Male x Female threads? Also need to calculate the shear strength of the threads.
What soft seat material is recommended that can withstand "Group A" test conditions of this standard which are 600psig at 500deg.F (methane gas)? I believe TFM/PTFE seats cannot withstand these conditions. Does anyone know any other soft seat material for ball valve to be tested for API 641...
Does anyone know how to mathematically or thru CFD calculate the CV of a 6in 3-way T-port ball valve? See attached for reference..https://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=ca78175f-6248-4df8-9a13-ac518f3083f0&file=3-way.JPG
Can someone suggest how to make a radial cut in this part? The model needs to have a Radius equal to R-C as shown in the drawing. See attachment

Does anyone know how to design the geometry of the seat for ball valve? Any design calculations or steps recommended to accurately design soft and metal seats??
Can a valve that is compliant to ASME B16.34 be used in lieu of ASME B16.38? However, ASME B16.38 calls for specific gas tightness test and bending moment test that are not specified in ASME B16.34.
What are the acceptable materials as per NACE MR0175 (latest version) for the trim of floating and trunnion ball valves? 300 Stainless has become unacceptable. So what materials for valve body, stem, ball, seats, packing, and gaskets are still valid?
Is anyone aware of any empirical formula to calculate the torque of a ball valve? There are formulae like Roark's to find MAST but how can we mathematically compute the Break to Open, End to Open torque values for a valve??
If a ball valve design is in full compliance to ASME B16.34 and API 6D, does that automatically qualify the valve to be API 608 compliant? If not, what different stuff needs to be undertaken to make it API 608 compliant?
Hello Everyone,
Is there any way we can analytically calculate rated Cv values for custom cut V-port and Slotted balls (e.g 5degree V-Port ball or 3/8" slotted ball). What formulae can be used to compute it? If someone has done it and share the information, it will be really helpful.
Hi everyone,
We have some ball valves (1.25" and 6" sized)in which the upstream TFM seat is being clipped by the ball and damaging the seat which sends parts of the seat downstream.
Does anyone have any idea why this must be happening?
All valve parts have been designed and manufactured as...
Hello Everyone. I am new here.
I need to know what is the Aerospace grade bolting? Is there any material specification for such boltings like B7 or B8, etc.?
